Was Our Prophet pbuh Ummi (unlitrate) ?

So Ali bin Abi-Talib started writing the treaty between them. He wrote, This is what Muhammad, Apostle of Allah has agreed to. The (Meccans) said, If we knew that you (Muhammad) are the Apostle of Allah, then we would not have prevented you and would have followed you. But write, This is what Muhammad bin Abdullah has agreed to.. On that Allahs Apostle said, By Allah, I am Muhammad bin Abdullah, and, by Allah, I am Apostle of Allah. Allahs Apostle used not to write, so he asked Ali to erase the expression of Apostle of Allah. On that Ali said, By Allah, I will never erase it! Allahs Apostle said (to Ali), Let me see the paper. When Ali showed him the paper, the Prophet erased the expression with his own hand.

Dear karachiwala, from the context of the quran it appears that all such reports that tell about collection of the quran after the death of the prophet are in conflict with the quran.

Why?

1)Because the quran is a divine plan of action according to which the prophet was supposed to start his mission and follow it through. The plan has to be there before the mission starts.

2)The quran tells the prophet to teach his followers goals, the book, the wisdom and free them from all ills 62/2 etc.

3)The question is, why would anyone invent such reports? My answer is to discredit the quran and mission of the prophet. So that people become doubtful about its originality and leave it and open the way for those whose way it is blocking.

These like reports are many including those that tell us verses of the quran are missing or abrogated. If we put all these reports together they show a consistent effort on part of people to destroy the quranic authenticity.

When a prophet is sent to deliver the complete message to his people then how is it possible that the prophet passes away and the message remains in bits and pieces in a chaotic or confusing way?

The acceptance of these reports gives our opponents a stick to beat us with. Then there are reports that tell that about 40 people used to write down the quran for the prophet so it makes no sense with that many people wirting the quran down yet prophet left this world and there was no written copy of the quran. It is for this reason necessary that we read the quran with care to see how it works out so that we could see which reports are closer to reality.

Akbar Shah Khan Najeebabadi- History of Islam or Tareekh-e-Islam. Do you need to know which hadeeth book this is coming from? Also since you are objecting then you may be someone who has better understanding of these things. May I ask for your qualification as I may also treat you as a source or should I ...
