You really think Pakistan needs more exports? You really think Foreign reserves in USD is going to help Pakistan? Inter-connections with the "money-grid"?

Folks, this is a myth that is taught to us in Schools and colleges that exports help a country. No they dont. What does US or UK exports? They import even the toilet paper from China. They are doing pretty well...

Well said. A solid domestic economy is the key. If you make quality shirts for domestic market and some of them get bought by outsiders that is Sonay per Suhaga. Making toilet paper for others and working for 25 cents an hour is slavery for those you are making toilet papers for. You will be dumped as soon as some one ells offers to make them for 22 cents per hour.

thats what i ve been trying to tell them , spending $20 dollars on pakistani product is not helping pakistan , it is at very very small level , but essentially you are helping someone make money who imported that product. If any thing it should be other way around like, you said , make product in Pakistan and have buy it for 20 bucks.

You have a valid point. Most of the Pakistani food imports to western countries are from Dubai. So, how much of it goes back to Pakistan is a question to be answered? Sending what ever small amount you can afford to your people back home in Pakistan through legal channels is the best way to improve Pakistan economy and lives of poor, if the Govt. does not spend that money to buy weapons in the name of defending Pakistan.

If you do not have relatives to send money, then the best option would be to send it to reliable charitable institutions like Edhi foundation etc.,

@unicorn gave just a hypothetical situation. India or for that matter Bangali (your 1971 syndrome still exist, it is now Bangladesh) can never make toilet paper for even for 25 cents forget about 22 cents because the labor is paid more than China.

India's economy is derived mostly to cater to local market than exports. So I agree to @unicorn formula of soney pe suhaga.

India's exports should be based on innovation and technology (like the kind of Y2k) and not pickle and mango.
