Awesome Protest
At least this is the better way to protest instead blocking off the traffic, burning our own property etc.

No, this is not how it works.
ER and floors are always running smoothly. There are always doctors who keep working in these sections. OPD/Out patient clinics are the ones that are being closed. Normally minor illnesses like headache, flu etc. are the ones seen in the clinics. Can you imagine the reaction fo media, CM Punjab and the people if someone would had died because of this strike? We are smart people we cover all our bases to make sure our case doest not become weak.:)
Lately, the docs have started seeing the clinic patients outside on the roads, just to ensure that patients donot get neglected and by keeping the OPD department closed, they are registering their protest in the process. And kindly also go through the newspapers today to see what kind of advertisement has been launched by Punjab Govt. against these protests. I hope they remain civilized.
About the evening clinics, well, these protests are primarily launched by the YOUNG DOCS to increase the salaries/increments of under training docs. Evening clinics are in most parts run by Consultants ( attendings).

just recently it was told on the new born kidnapping at one of the known hospitals here. what happened.. gyn and ob wards were shut down, the patients were asked to go jinnah's mc. Yes the female docs of the ob & gyn ward were on strike. SO those women that had their case history and files there with those dr's ... had to return home. since no one was going to examine them.
