Non Party elections were introduced to permit winning candidate to sell his seat as independent.As he has won the seat independently so he has no fear of any law which can restrain him from joining the ruling party.Thats why Non party elections are held if PTI or PPP affiliated candidate wins independently he can be lured into joining ruling party and thats how mayorships stays with the ruling party.

I don't have an opinion yet either for non-party based or for party based elections for local bodies. Before forming an opinion either way, I'll have to look at the arguments on both sides.
This is why I was asking for advantages and disadvantages of both systems. I was under the impression that those who are taking a certain position must have done some analysis .

Basic assumption is that, if
you believe in true democracy, then
political parties are part and parcel of this process - from local to national level....
Based on previous experience,
non-party elections were conducted to weaken political parties and
have more influence over individual candidates
(appear to have similar intentions this time as well)....
PS: What else can you expect from FAMILY parties who
don't have democracy in their own parties!!!!
