Top 10 controversies and hypocrisies of Babar Awan:
1- Babar Awan (complete name Zaheeruddin Babar Awan) started his political career from Jamat-e-Islami platform. There are reports that he used to do Farman-e-Elahi program on PTV and used his tongue to rise in power corridors. He is known to have fake PhD degree yet he calls himself as Dr. Babar Awan.
2- Babar Awan then moved into Zia-ul-Haq camp.
He used to make speeches against Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and had distributed sweets on day of his execution.
When PPP chief Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was in jail, Babar demanded hanging of Bhutto in public protests and distributed sweets in Rawalpindi courts on the day of his execution,” Ijazul Haq, the son of the third military ruler, confirmed to The News.
3- Babar Awan was the stage secretary on the first death anniversary of General Zia-ul-Haq. He also walked barefooted from Zia-ul-Haq's tomb at Faisal Masjid to Ijaz-ul-Haq's residence to honor him.
4- With PPP coming into power after Zia's death, Babar Awan moved into PPP camp through Chattha group. Babar Awan fought elections on PPP ticket from KPK in 1997 and from Islamabad in 2002 but lost in both elections. He finally got breakthrough in 2006 as he became a senator on PPP ticket. He was also member of PPP Central Executive Committee.
5- Babar Awan used this legal professional to maximum during illegal tenure of Chief Justice Dogar at Supreme Court. Babar Awan took massive bribes from corrupt clients and got favorable judgements from Justice Dogar through his out of court links. Few examples of such cases are Haris Steel Mill scandal with bribes of 30 million transferred to Babar Awan's account and Islamabad Farms House scandal where around 500 elites supporting Musharraf got farm houses at Chak Shahzad where they built luxury houses.
6- Babar Awan was with Benazir on 27th December 2007 at Liaquat Baagh in a different car,
but fled the scene after explosion with Rehman Malik leaving Benazir and other PPP members vulnerable.
7- Babar Awan was the main crook running campaign against deposed judiciary of Pakistan. He was distributing millions of rupees of cash at bar councils of different cities on daily basis on behalf of PPP government, however many bar councils refused to accept the bribe and took part in lawyers movement with more passion. He was also insulting the deposed judiciary on daily basis on media actively during Dogar tenure.
8- In 2008, Babar Awan rose to cabinet with portfolios of Law, Justice and IT ministries in PPP tenure. He was later stripped off from ministries and PPP CEC
due to his refusal to support Aitzaz Ahsan as witness in Gillani case.
9- Babar Awan was involved in contempt of court multiple times and his bar license was also temporarily suspended by the Supreme Court.
He was also proven to lie in Supreme Court. He even insulted the notice of Supreme Court in front of Media outside the court.

10- Babar Awan also reportedly threatened to beat Kashif Abbasi after the host asked difficult questions in a talk show. Awan also threatened to
teach a lesson to Abid Sher Ali, Chairman Standing Committee on Education who was leading the degree verifications of all parliamentarians.
Babar Awan is currently close to Imran Khan and representing him in the defamation case filed by former CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry on rigging allegations. Babar Awan was also the lawyer of ISI against GEO after assassination attempt on Hamid Mir and also represented fake degree holder Ayla Malik on Imran Khan's request. There are reports that Babar is actively getting close to Imran Khan in his attempt to renew his senate membership.
