There is a lot of academic research out there that shows most stock pickers (70%-90%?) are unable to beat the s&p500 on a medium to long term basis (say 3yr or longer horizon).

So you might get lucky or might be amongst the most intelligent men in the world; but my advice to people generally is to just buy an s&p500 tracker (spider) and sit on it for medium to long term horizon.

That is incidentally also the general advice of Warren Buffet - one of the most successful stock pickers.

That said of course maybe if Tesla goes the way Apple went who knows might be an exceptional one to invest in :D

I did start stocks a could years ago from $5000, initially earned a bit but eventually lost $9000. Thus stopped right there as it was not my kind of thingy. I know some people though who earned 1000s with penny stocks. You need to have in-depth knowledge of the market (and of course politics) to do the right business. One move from middle east or China shatters the whole scenario.

I lost most of my share with HNU, as I said initially I did better but then lost because I thought that this stock will make a comeback. It did not.
Also there were some penny stocks but it was too much pressure to sustain so I stopped right there.

I think you need to be a pure business minded person for doing all these and Most of the people like us just want to try anything for sake of little gains or if lucky for Jackpot which rarely happens.I have learnt one man/woman can only be successful in the field they are naturally attracted to.otherwise most people lose and even lose the interest in life.
But then how many people ever tried to find out whats their actual talent and how to pursue a carrier and when they realized its too late for them.
But i beleive even if its late and you discovered yourself lately,pursue it as you will be more happy even if it has less earning.

Pakistan isn't progressing cause dumb people like you are living there... who instead of hard work believe in shortcuts n fall pray for scam like double shah,black scorpion or earn $$$$ k with little online work.
