Reduce Tension and Stress - A Health Tip

There is also a 4-7-8 breathing rule that helps reduce stress, which I believe they were referring to but did not specify what the name was. Also, I did not put my finger on the noise which I thought was a ridiculous idea. Nevertheless, this technique is quite useful.

4 - Sit comfortably on a chair or wherever you feel comfortable the most and inhale your breath for 4 counts
7 - Hold your breath for 7 counts
8 - Exhale your breath opening mouth gradually for 8 counts

Repeat these three steps 4-5 times.

I remember this rule by adding these numbers: 4+7+8 = 19. I often forget the numbers, but I have it memorized as "19" because that is the sum of these numbers.

There is no scientific evidence that shows it brings fruitful results as far as I am aware but it certainly makes you feel relaxed and make you focused towards the task you are trying to accomplish.

Please give yourself some time to become adjusted to it and don't feel embarrassed (even if doing publicly). Once you get comfortable doing it, you can do without someone ever noticing it. Further, if you don't follow that nose rule, no one would ever notice what you are doing.
