Khsrat Kharal has entered into Holy Land of Hijaz .
AMMAN World record holder of the longest peace walk, Kharlzada Kasrat Rai is only 200,000 steps away from reaching his ultimate goal, Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, after leaving Jordan on Thursday.Kasrat Rai left the Pakistani city of Karachi on June 7 for a 6,387-kilometre, 117-day peace walk through Iran, Iraq and Jordan with the aim of promoting peace, balance of power and respect for the sovereignty of nations.During his five-day trek across Jordan from Al Safawi in the north to the border with Saudi Arabia, the 37-year-old activist also tried to change the perception of his homeland as a country that hosts the international communitys hunt for terrorists. The Pakistani constitution guarantees equal rights [but] the positive evolution of the country is never portrayed in the international media. It is time to acknowledge the role Pakistan plays in promoting peace too, Kasrat Rai told The Jordan Times on Thursday.Engaged in international efforts to fight terrorism, Pakistan has faced 3,486 bomb blasts, including 283 major suicide attacks, claiming the lives of over 20,000 civilians since 2001, according to recent figures released by the Pakistani government. There are too many divisions among the Muslim community today, Shiites and Sunnis are just one example of what is happening in the Arab world. We need to work on a grass-roots level to address the internal divisions, Kasrat Rai said.Having travelled through Mafraq and Azraq, the peace activist noted that Jordanians, Palestinians and Syrians alike had been very receptive to his message of peace, many taking pictures with him and some briefly walking by his side. For the experienced peace walker who has undertaken two previous treks in 2007 and 2011 the goal is to bring Muslims together in a unity comparable to the one achieved in other monotheistic religions. But beyond calling for more harmony among Arab nations and religious factions, Kasrat Rai wants to spread his message of peace all over the whole world.I want unity and peace for the Ummah, but also a real interfaith dialogue so every person in the world can have rights and respect, Kasrat Rai noted.
