i would agree with you on that but the question is, as i see you currently reside in germany, would you or do you drive in your car with an illegal weapon? Ya phir let me simply ask, how many times have we dared to stand up to a drunk guy when he passes a racist comment? This issue isn't political, but it is an test of our mentality. Bahir toh humain her waqt dar hota hai keh visa ka koey masala na ho jaye, lakin if you are challenged like this in your own country toh fithay muh hamara...

No better comments could be expected from a supporter of American Lackey. I could tell you where to go you blind fool, but considering the sad occasion and tragedy of the whole family, I reserve my comments for another day for people like you.

The team also found a GPS tracker, telescope, passport, two mobile phones, valet and a dairy.

US presses Zardari to free Davis

A presidential spokesman confirmed the meeting took place but refused to comment on details of the discussion.—Reuters photo

ISLAMABAD: The US ambassador to Pakistan pressed the country’s president Monday to release an American official who Washington says was illegally detained after he shot and killed two men in Lahore.
Ambassador Cameron Munter’s meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad followed repeated public demands for the American’s freedom.
The US has said the American, who has been identified by Pakistanis as Raymond Allen Davis, acted in self-defense when he shot the two men on Jan 27 and must be released because he has diplomatic immunity.
Munter told Zardari that ”Pakistan must comply with its obligations under international law and immediately release the American diplomat illegally detained in Lahore,” according to US Embassy spokeswoman Courtney Beale.
Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar confirmed the meeting took place but refused to comment on details of the discussion.

Raymond Davis case: Men killed in Lahore were intelligence operatives, says official

February 7, 2011

zrclip_004p690a5266.png

The government’s reluctance to free Raymond Davis is attributed to the fact that the two killed in the Lahore shooting were believed to be the intelligence operatives.
“Yes, they belonged to the security establishment….they found the activities of the American official detrimental to our national security,” disclosed a security official.
zrclip_005p14b49781.png
He requested not to be identified since he was not authorised to speak to the media on record.
The official confirmed that the president, the prime minister and the chief of army staff (COAS) had discussed the issue in a meeting last week. The three thought it was advisable to resist the US pressure on the Raymond Davis issue and believed the detained American national should not be released at this stage, he said.
He said the government’s tough stance on the controversy was also its reaction to the attempts by certain elements in Washington to implicate the country’s top spy agency, the ISI, in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.
“The government is very angry with the decision of an American court to summon top ISI officials in connections with the Mumbai attacks,” the official maintained.
The military spokesman was not available for comments.
The officials in the Foreign Office also confirmed the government’s position on the Raymond Davis issue but said he would eventually be released once the firm assurance from the US that such incidents would not recur.
The government was also contemplating to ask the American government to waive off Raymond’s immunity and try him in the US courts, the officials added. A US Embassy official said his government had “no plans yet to agree on such a step”.

An American goes to Pakistan: The Raymond Davis Case

February 7, 2011

By Shemrez
The Government of Pakistan, its electronic media and its people, have been captivated by the case of one Raymond Allen Davis, an ‘American’ allegedly using a pseudonym and a ‘diplomatic passport’ to come to Pakistan and shoot two Pakistanis in Lahore in broad daylight. The incident happened apparently in self-defense, and in addition to conspiracy-prone Pakistani society, a few questions remained unanswered which led to more and more sensationalism, and concealment of important facts.
First, there should be no doubt by now that ‘Davis’ is a US DoD contractor. His name seems more of a pseudonym because of General Raymond Gilbert Davis, a US Marines General who fought in World War II and retired from the post of Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps on March 31, 1972, after more than 33 years with the Marines. There is also Raymond Davis Jr., a chemist and physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2002. This only rings a bell if one remembers the CIA Station Chief in Islamabad who got ratted out; Jonathan Banks, apparently another pseudonym, because web searches for the name yield websites related only to an American TV/film actor.

The Raymond Davis Case: Justice through diplomacy

February 7, 2011

by raven_gale
The mysterious case of Raymond Davis who murdered two Pakistani’s in broad daylight near Mazang Chowk has initiated the debate Blackwater operatives on Pakistani soil. Somehow, it seems that the more you get to know about it, the more perplexing the scenario gets. The statements given by US and Pakistani governments give the impression that both the governments are purposely trying to keep the general public clouded in confusion, and as far away from the truth as is humanly possible.
Up till now, what is known about the case is that Raymond Davis, a staff member of the US Embassy in Islamabad, shot two Pakistani men dead on Thursday, January 27, 2011 in a crowded part of Lahore (Mozang Chowk), according to him in self-defense. A US Consulate vehicle that rushed in to ‘rescue’ Mr. David then ran over a third person, who also died. A murder case was registered against Raymond Davis, who was handed into police custody. A case has also been registered against the driver of the US Consulate vehicle that ran over a third person, but the driver has not yet been apprehended.

Lahore shooting: Three more Americans barred from fleeing Pakistan

http://www.zoneasia-pk.com/ZoneAsia...istan&format=pdf&option=com_content&Itemid=61
car1-640x480.jpg
ISLAMABAD:
The government has barred three more Americans from travelling outside Pakistan on allegations that they were in the vehicle that crushed a man to death in Lahore immediately after Raymond Davis, a detained US citizen, was involved in a shootout that killed two other men.
The Punjab government has asked the federal governments assistance in securing the custody of the three American men who are accused of trampling a motorcyclist to death while they drove to try and rescue Raymond Davis, who is accused of killing two men in Lahore.

The interior ministry has placed the name of the three Americans, including the driver of the US consulate in Lahore, on the exit control list, said one federal interior ministry official, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Putting a name on the exit control list (ECL) legally empowers the government to prevent that person from leaving the country. Raymond Davis is currently in the custody of the Punjab police in Lahore and awaiting trial for murder.
We have sought access to get custody of these accused because they are wanted by the Punjab police in connection to the Raymond Davis case, said Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Senator Pervez Rashid. He added that the preliminary investigation report has been sent to the federal government.
The federal interior ministry, through the Foreign Office, has also written to the US consulate asking for the three accused Americans to be handed over to the Punjab police, said the interior ministry official. He declined to name the three individuals, however, saying that it might compromise the investigation.
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Pakistan said that they were not aware of these developments.
We have not received any such information on the issue as yet, said Courtney Beale, acting spokesperson of the US embassy in Islamabad.
Both the United States and Pakistan governments are handling the situation with some caution, given the popular reaction against Raymond Davis. While the US government claims that Davis has diplomatic immunity, the court in Lahore has yet to adjudicate on the matter.

ISLAMABAD:
The US government has been advised by the Senate to refrain from issuing warnings and statements about Raymond Davis, who allegedly killed two young men in Lahore last week in self-defence.
Right from the start of the sitting on Friday, the senators belonging to opposition and treasury benches called upon the government not to succumb to any pressure for Davis`s early release.
On a point of order, Senator Tariq Azeem of the PML-Q urged the government to impress upon the United States and its embassy not to issue intimidating statements demanding release of its citizen.
“When the people put questions to the authorities on this vital issue they are told that it cannot be discussed because it is sub judice, but the United States and its embassy are free to issue statements each day,” he said.
He referred to a newspaper report about the mounting pressure and fresh demands from the US government for release of Davis who had been booked by police for killing two Pakistani nationals.
“The Foreign Office is also maintaining a guarded silence and the Interior Ministry is also not telling the truth and the US government is continuing to issue statements,” he said.Mr Azeem said the American government and their media had also admitted that Davis was travelling to Pakistan on fake identity and in such a case the visa ought to be cancelled and the person deported.
“Instead of giving diplomatic immunity to the US citizen, his visa should be cancelled and his trial should be held in a fair manner,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister`s Adviser Mian Raza Rabbani outrightly dismissed the objection being raised against devolution of certain ministries to the provinces.
Responding to a point of order by a Baloch lawmaker, Mr Rabbani made it clear that the commission had limited mandate of facilitating devolution plan but it cannot make any change in what has been decided by the 18th Amendment.
Humayun Mandokhel wanted to know the fate of certain international protocols in case the ministry of environment is devolved to the provinces.
Earlier, MQM Senators staged a walk-out against what one of its lawmakers Col (retd) Tahir Hussain Mashhadi termed killing the adjournment motion that his party had moved to debate petroleum prices hike.
He was reprimanded by the chairman for speaking too loudly and ordered closure of his mike as well.
This infuriated the member as he left the house grumbling and two other party lawmakers also followed him.
Zahid Khan of the ANP asked the chair to restrain the buyer of railways land on the Bank road in Rawalpindi on exorbitant price of Rs2.5 billion which was sold to him on a throwaway price of Rs100 million in 2002.
