there are enough parties in Pakistan and we dunt want any new one which apparently represented also from UK. . MQM must be completely dismantled and discarded from the face of the earth. . We must not forget though IF was murdered for abandoning Taafu, he was also a very close associate and advisor to Taafu and hence equally guilty. .

I agree that we don't need MQM Lite. Any artificially created party emanating from the same mindset will resort to the same tactics as did MQM Haqiqi.

I understand your frustrations but the problem is that this stance of "eliminating MQM from the face of this earth" only helps them to rally their base and hard core supporters and is counter productive. First of there is no will on part of powers to be in Pakistan to do that and even if they did it would not be practically possible.

As a political force, MQM is the worst, because its use of violence and intimidation which results in deaths and causes mayhem. Having said that they are not much different than most other political parties in the sense that they are led by demagogues who are fooling millions. The problem is those millions. You may say that MQM doesn't have the support that it claims to have or what it used to have but it still has a significant number of people in Karachi and Hyderabad who support it. Its a fact. The problem is that they were allowed to get this strong and were allowed to use violence and intimidation as a normal part of their political strategy and the more the authorities in Pakistan allowed it to happen the more they were emboldened.

The solution, in my opinion, lies with the government in the center. That would require some will and growing of a spine. Some careful planning and moves could neutralize the way MQM is able to intimidate people. Possibly make MQM realize that in order for them to survive they will have to correct themselves and renounce their previous tactics. The problem is that for that to happen they will first have to admit that they have errant ways which NO ONE in pakistan ever wants to do but with some shrewd moves that could happen and could convince them that they can't still be stuck in the 80s mindset and as a result MQM is brought into mainstream politics.
