KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Works and Services, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has said that his remarks at a reception here on Wednesday night were not intended to harm the sentiments of any community.
According to a statement issued here on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mr Mirza said that he issued the comments in his personal capacity and offered his apologies in this regard.
Mr Mirza said that all the Urdu-speaking people would remain their brothers.
“After partition we welcomed our Urdu-speaking brothers in the province and we would continue to live like brothers in future as well,” he maintained.
It is the endeavour of our leadership that we should maintain unity and live peacefully as a family and thwart all conspiracies of the enemies working against integrity of the country, he said.

Mirza Sahab aap masha Allah mazhabi aadmi hain apnain level ko mat girain. MQM ko agar us kay haal per chor dia jata tou woh apni moot khud marjate. Badla aur nafrat ka jawab nafrat he MQM ki ghiza hai.

MQM walon ne maafi mangi Punjabeon ke khilaf byan denay ki. Aur Alataf ke Pakistan ke khilaf byan denay ki? Aur ab Zulfiqar Miraza ke byan ke reaction me Karachi me jalao gherao aur 15 logon ko shaheed karnay ki. Zilfiqar miraza ko Mahajir ya Urdu bolnay walon ke khilaf byan nahi dena chahye tha haan baqi Altaf aur MQM ke baray mai to us ne 200% such bola hai.

And Party also banned him till 15 days. It was the blunder frm him bt it was in reaction n still he feels shame on it n accept his mistake many times in different Talk shows. Here case(Z.M) is totally different he did such a things, Deliberately provoking hatred of a racial group, too many times n never accept his mistake.

نا جانے ہمارے ملک میں کسی قوم کی دل آزاری کرنا اتنا آسان کیوں ہے - گو کہ میں زلفقار مرزا یا شاہی سید یا اس قسم کہ اور لوگوں کی بات کو زیادہ اہمیت نہیں دیتا ، لیکن افسوس اس بات پر ہوتا ہے کہ ہمارے ملک کے تعلیم یافتہ لوگ ایسے لوگوں کا مکمل بائیکاٹ کیوں نہیں کرتے اور مختلف سیاسی جماعتیں ایسے تعصبی لوگوں کو اپنی جماعت سے نکال کیوں نہیں دیتیں - شاید اسکی وجہ یہ ہو کہ انکے نزدیک ان لوگوں کی اہمیت ایک پوری قوم سے زیادہ ہو - ہم یہ کیوں نہیں سمجھتے کہ ہمارے ملک کے لوگ مختلف گروہوں میں بٹے ہوے ہیں اور ایک بہت ہی نازک اور کمزور رشتے میں بندھے ہوے ہیں - ہمیں ان رشتوں کی مضبوطی کو بار بار نہیں آزمانہ چاہیے - ہو سکتا ہے کہ کسی کی دل آزاری کرکے ہمیں وقتی خوشی تو مل جاے لیکن ان کے بہت دور رس اثرات ہوتے ہیں اور ان باتوں سے ملک بنتے نہیں بگڑتے ہیں - شاید یہ نا عاقبت اندیش لوگ یہ بات نہیں سمجھتے - ہمیں یہ بات سمجھ لینی چاہیے اس سے پہلے کہ بہت دیر ہو جاے -

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Zulfiqar Mirza issued a video apology late on Thursday, apologizing to the Urdu speaking community for hurting their sentiments in a statement made by him earlier on Wednesday.

In the video, he reiterated that his earlier statement was his personal opinion and not party policy.
Earlier in the day in a statement released by the Sindh Ministry of Information, Mirza said that all Urdu-speaking people were his brothers and sisters and that he apologises for his statements against them.
He had earlier criticised the MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain and also said that the leader of a breakaway MQM faction was the true leader of muhajirs and accused the MQM of trying to divide Sindh.
Violence and unrest had quickly spread to different parts of Karachi and Hyderabad after Mirzas earlier statements.
All shops and markets in Karachi, Hyderabad and other adjacent areas were closed and transport suspended.
Protestors took to the streets and torched an effigy of Mirza as a sign of protest against his statement.
Condemnations aplenty
The Awami National Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz distanced themselves from Zulfiqar Mirzas remarks, saying the statements from the PPP leader are irresponsible.
In a statement issued from Karachi, the ANP denounced the statement and has urged the MQM to calm its workers in Karachi.
Separately, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said Zulfiqar Mirza must publically apologise for his anti-MQM remarks.
Talking to Express 24/7, Ahsan Iqbal said such statements endanger the lives of Karachiites.
He said the city has just come out of a violent cycle and tolerance is the need of the hour.
