It is widely reported that the Pakistan Army is reaching the last phase in its fight against the militants inside the country. According to a news article below: “The army says it has killed more than 2,700 militants since the launch of the offensive — dubbed Zarb-e-Azb — last June, and destroyed more than 800 of their hideouts.”

It is no secret the terrorist organizations like the TTP and Lashkar-e-Taiba have been working diligently to destabilize the nation of Pakistan. Thousands of innocent lives have been lost due to their acts of terror. Their barbaric nature is evident through their statements and how they boast about the killings and show no remorse while accepting the responsibility.

One of the key details to note is that these terrorist organizations have been successful in casting their evil ideology over the minds of many. We’ve seen these terrorist organizations manipulate men, women and even children into becoming suicide bombers. Moving forward, it is important that these terrorist organizations do not succeed at brainwashing anyone into carrying forward their evil agenda.

We commend the Pakistani security forces in their efforts to counter terrorism and have full confidence in their ability to restore peace in the country. At the same time, it is also important for everyone to stand united and take any advantage away from the enemies of peace.

Please share your opinion in regards to what must be done to prevent the terrorist organizations from spreading their influence and evil ideology.

Operation Zarb-e-Azb: Army gearing up for final push in Shawal Valley
ISLAMABAD: The army is preparing for a final push in the coming weeks in the country’s fight against militants.

A year on from the launch of a major offensive to eradicate strongholds of Taliban and other militants in North Waziristan tribal area, the military says the job is 90 percent done.

It is now positioning troops around the Shawal Valley, a key location close to the Afghan border that is home to some of the last redoubts of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to locals and security sources.

The army says it has killed more than 2,700 militants since the launch of the offensive — dubbed Zarb-e-Azb — last June, and destroyed more than 800 of their hideouts.

A senior military official directly linked to the offensive said the army was gearing up for the final push and using air strikes before moving in ground troops.

“We are turning hard targets into soft through aerial bombing because forces expect a resistance in Shawal,” he told AFP.

The troop movements were confirmed by locals, though some tribal elders warned militants were slipping across the porous mountainous border into Afghanistan.

“Up to two dozen militants are leaving the area every day and around 200 militants recently moved into part of Afghan territory,” elder Ajab Khan told AFP.

He warned the remaining areas where TTP fighters are holed up will be difficult fighting terrain — mountainous and thickly forested.
But security analysts caution that military gains will serve little purpose unless and until the lawless, semi-autonomous tribal areas see administrative reform and economic development.

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) are among the poorest in Pakistan, and are governed under a draconian legal system introduced by British colonial rulers more than a century ago.

“The longevity of the ‘final push’ would largely depend on the constitutional status of the region,” said Imtiaz Gul, executive director at Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).

“Until the Fata region is mainstreamed and brought under the law of the land, keeping it clear of militants and criminals would be difficult.”

Hundreds of thousands of civilians were forced to leave North Waziristan by the offensive. Retired Lieutenant General Talat Masood said reintegrating them was key to success.

“These military gains will only be a part of the exercise. Complete success depends on the rehabilitation of the displaced people and development in the tribal region,” he told AFP.

Zarb-e-Azb does seem to have had a positive impact on militant attacks, which have been down overall, with some shocking exceptions, such as the December massacre by Taliban gunmen of more than 130 children at a school in Peshawar.

But doubts have been raised about the transparency of the operation and the identities of those killed.

I A Rehman of the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) said there was no way to know for sure who the army had killed.

“We don’t know the truth about the casualties — what is the actual number of casualties, how many of them are terrorists and how many of them innocents?” he told AFP.

“They should make this action transparent. People should have access in the areas of operation.”

Concerns have also been raised about the resumption of executions and introduction of military courts, which have sat in secret, under a government National Action Plan (NAP) to defeat terror, launched in the wake of the Peshawar massacre.

The European Union, the United Nations and various international rights groups have been alarmed by the pace of executions — around 160 since they began again in December after a six-year hiatus.

Rehman said HRCP did not accept the legitimacy of the military courts, which handed out their first rulings in April, sentencing six militants to death and another to life in jail.

The news was announced in a Twitter post by the chief military spokesperson Major General Asim Bajwa, with no details given on the nature of the crimes, when or where the trials were held, the evidence presented or even the identity of those convicted.

The Supreme Court is currently hearing challenges to the constitutionality of the military tribunals.

Moreover there are doubts the NAP will do much to deal with the radicalisation of young people by hardline seminaries that underlies much of Pakistan’s terror problems.

“They have resumed hangings through the National Action Plan but the seminaries are still working and there is no check on them,” Rehman said.

Best strategy is that US should stop funding/ supporting terrorists for their own gains and later fighting a war against them once their use is over. Examples of this US Strategy are US supporting Taliban and later fighting a war against and more recently the US involvement in Syria civil war.

Biggest bone of contention in this whole wide world is United States of America. They have left their puppets all over the world to maintain their monopoly, dance on their signs, take the money and sell their countries. Look at Egypt,Syria,Lybia,Pakistan,Afghanistan,Iraq,Saudia,India and most of the south asian and middleast belt. Their funding and their threats are open to everyone. Wherever they went, they left piles of human dead bodies there for example, Iraq, Afghanistan,Pakistan,Lybia,Syria, Yemen. Ur the first country to use nuclear and dirty bombs on japan. This war on terrorism where we lost more than 80,000 of our citizens was imposed on us by US. Them themselves couldnt even prove the assassination of OBL but they want proofs from others. On one hand they fund/back india against pakistan and on the other hand they push pakistan to take dangerous steps in the region, results in 2 big giants of asia have been in a war since independence. Please stop intervening in our problems and keep ur damn nose out of it. U created ISIS and now its the biggest threat to the whole entire world. Spit it or suck on it, thats ur fault. If america goes down, more than 80% of the problems in this world will be no more. People are suffering because of ur inhuman policies and ur rage towards the weak. Have some shame and look inside of u, what have u given to the world and how many lives have u taken.

It is important to keep in mind that terrorist organizations like the TTP see the U.S. and Pakistan as common enemies. They have made it clear on several occasions that they do not wish to see any alliance between the U.S. and Pakistan. At the end of the day, it is in our best interest to combine our strength and work together to negate the common threat of terrorism.
Our nations have been working together for over a decade, and yes, we have faced certain challenges in regards to our partnership, but our shared stance against terrorists continues to bind us together. Our officials have been meeting regularly to address all shared concerns and prevent any possible issues from arising. You can rest assured that the focus remains on building a healthy working relationship, and we are fully optimistic in regards to achieving our common objectives through shared cooperation and coordination.

Dear Ali Khan, there is a difference between Pakistan and US the same difference we both share on this forum i.e. you are favoring US because you are paid to do this so you have some others interest to show the anti terror commitment of US, on contrary i am doing it voluntarily only for my survival and my country's survival. so i guess i have more authentic reason to believe that Pakistan was sincere against terrorism when it was fighting with "major" support of US but the achievements were rare and now Pakistan is fighting "mostly" independent and achievements are obvious to the world
this is a little evidence that US is not sincere rather playing double game.
i think after few Months last Bush will become president and i hope he would than be better than Obama who is becoming fool in the hands of India in the region

Stop blaming others. We have let so called maulanas take care of religion, look what happened. Today they have divided nation into sects. Even if they talk about Ummah, they have demonized the concept of it. They haven't been able to lift us up on a single base, we are sunni, shia, mohajir, punjabi etc. All 'Madrassas' should be under a Government body who regulates it just like HEC and just like in gulf states also in Saudia. So called scholars like "Abdul Aziz" should be banned from speaking to an audience.
