‘VIP’ from Pindi opposed ‘N’ Opp leader in Senate: Babar

Babar Awan said that a VIP from Rawalpindi opposed PML-N opposition leader in Senate.


Talking to media in Rawalpindi, PPP leader Babar Awan said that a person having majority could become opposition leader in Senate or the National Assembly.

He said that PPP would support to pass the provincial budget in the Punjab Assembly but the turncoats should be shunned.

Babar Awan added that the budget of the presidency was not billions of rupees but a few crores.

He said that the defence budget was needed to be increased as it was not utilised only on buying on weapons but also on the rehabilitation work in the war-affected areas.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz, Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (likeminded) and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Tuesday staged a walk out from the Senate session in protest against the nomination of Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) as Leader of the Opposition.
Senators Ishaq Dar, Abul Rahim Mandokhel, Professor Khursheed, Pervez Rasheed and Raja Zafarul Haq staged a walk out from the session.
JUI-F Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri was appointed as the new opposition leader by Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek on Monday and hours before the start of the general debate on the federal budget for the next financial year.
Immediately after the appointment, opposition members belonging to all other parties lodged a strong protest, disrupting the proceedings.

I thought Opposition leader is elected by the parliamentarians ....yeh VIP kaha se aagaye?

Haideri declared leader of opposition in Senate







ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman, Farooq H Naek, on Monday declared the JUI-F parliamentary leader in the Senate, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, as the leader of the opposition in the Upper House. Haideri had the support of 19 opposition leader in the Senate, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, as the leader of the opposition in the Uppers House. Haideri had the support of 19 opposition members while 15 Senators backed Ishaq Dar of the PML-N.

Briefing journalists here at the Senate Chamber on Monday, Senate Secretary Muhammad Amin said PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in his letter said because the PML-Q had joined the government, the senators elected on the “Q” ticket should not be allowed to cast votes in the election for the leader of the opposition in the Senate. He said in light of Ch Shujaat’s letter, the Senate chairman announced that the nine PML-Q senators including PML-Q (Like-minded) could not participate in the election process.

The secretary told newsmen besides the 12 members of opposition, Haideri also had the support of five Fata senators including Hafiz Rasheed, Idrees Safi, Haji Khan, Engineer Rasheed and Abbas Khan Afridi. Independent member from Balochistan Wali Muhammad Badini also voted for Haideri.

Muhammad Amin further said Ishaq Dar got seven votes from his own PML-N, three from the Jamaat-e-Islami, two from the National Party and one from PPP-S. Independent member from Balochistan, Humayun Khan Mandokhel, also voted for Ishaq Dar.

The Senate chairman has issued a notification formally declaring Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri as the leader of the opposition in Senate.

APP adds: The notification said, “in pursuance of Rule-2 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate 1988, the chairman Senate has been pleased to recognize Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri as Leader of the Opposition in the Senate with effect from June 6”.

The proceedings of Senate were suspended for 15 minutes on Monday due to lack of quorum. Soon after the recitation of the Holy Quran and leave applications, PML-Q’s Jamal Khan Leghari pointed out the quorum. Chairman Farooq H Naek adjourned the proceedings of the House after counting the members.

Is this really n issue ?? PML N is in deep sleep jesay k Haroon Rashed kahta hai her dafa .. dono bhai Laasi pee k soo rahey hain... jab sai zardari sai samna hai in dono bhaiyoon ka elawa cheif justice restoration ... (us main bhe pindi walay VIP ka haath tha) her bar they got slap on the face and there answer is IIIB K MAAR phir batata hoon, they are still living in 1999.. dus saal hain he nahi in their book jo suadia main guzrey.....
