They are already in misery, a few more years of misery is nothing new. Indians have only just begun to see riches again. The "so called west" and the poverty that is real and in existence in these countries is not seen or not talked about. That is because they have a social security state. Why was david cameron talking about making it hard on migrants?
India may or may not compete with the west. But why is it so nice to see India fail?

Yes...thanks for the intro to it.. :) ..I like to have a good grasp of any topic before I initiate a thread so as to counter the trolls up here. But your insight into the issue has been pivotal in my decision to further read up on the issue.

It is indeed a very serious issue particularly in light of the way the center behaves towards the Sinhalese and how the tamils of India expect the diametrically opposite policy from the centre government. It indeed makes for a very interesting situation.

For India such a thing is not impossible in the long run. But as of now - no.

I disgaree ...India may not be able to furnish support in every area as a welfare state but they can definitely take strides by offering limited support. This will only be possible once you decide to end the greed of not sharing your money with the poor. I think this decision is more paramount than any policy for it.

USA is no one's friend! Things are tough at home which is why they are leaving Afghanistan as they simply can't afford these war's any more. The soldiers are tired not knowing who the invisible enemy is.

Too few jobs at home the USA rightfully needs to think of itself so will be reshoring many jobs. I won't laugh at the poor of India who have tough enough lives to live.

I don't need to read your link. I said it sarcastically. Welfare states can only be maintained, when states have enough income of their own to support the downtrodden in the society.

I don't say without a reason, Indians are the most misguided and foolish people I have seen in the world.
I had a saying for citizens of some countries. For example some Arabian countries, not blessed with the liquid gold.

Welfare states can only run where a large number of people are paying very high taxes. This supports the non productive population and keeps the poverty figures looking good.

If you go to any Hindu temple, it has Lord ganesha inside it and nandi. Do you know who they are? There are no temples of vishnu as in vishnu. Vishnu is revered in his various forms which include lord krishna, lord rama, balaji, pandurang/ vithal to name a few. In the south shiva's elder son karthikeyan is worshipped. So what the hell are you talking about?
