Yet, the situation has become worse by following the rule of law, if there was any, instead of making it better. So, anyone (who had a little sense of power) would then take the law in their hands as such in this case. The real question is who brought the society to this stage (intolerance, misbehavior, etc). It is the collective failure of the respective branches of the government (judiciary, executive, and legislative) and the society as a whole; it is a vicious cycle. Each of these branches are subject to checks and balances from each of the other branches (ideally speaking). However, the situation is much more complex as each branch tries to impose its authority over others and they do not think of the consequences this dictatorial attitude (feudal mindset) is going to accrue. While the military gets the blame for instilling dictatorial attitude into the society, the blame also lies on the politicians (who claim themselves to be 'democratic') for teaching the people to act in a dictatorial manner. The politicians go their own way through bribes, extortion, horse-trading, threats, harassment, etc. If that is not all, they plunder public's wealth, trample upon the Constitution, and use force when needed. Similarly, the people on the streets begin to impose their own will, using whatever power they have, as they feel they are not being heard/responded to. When the judicial/policing system does not give the people its due rights, disobedience becomes the norm.
If someone (read lawmaker) says that one shall obey the 'law', he/she is either too naive or trying their best in fooling others; unfortunately, this is becoming truer. And this is called 'anarchy'. Then those obedient lawmakers ask, "who is bringing anarchy or why are you trying to bring anarchy"? The answer to the question is another question, "Why does the system fail?" If the system had not failed repeatedly and does not continue to fail, there would not be people coming to the streets demanding judicial, land, health, and educational reforms.
This entire scenario was bound to happen, if not today, then tomorrow. I am not sure either as to when this would end, but I know for sure that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Finally, I will end with the quote from Thomas Jefferson who had said, "When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty".
