Rehman Malik Might Be Arrested Very Soon

[HUNJRA]

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed the appeals filed by Federal Interior Minister Rehman A Malik against the punishments announced by accountability courts, Geo News reported Monday.

It should be mentioned that Accountability courts declared three-year sentences for not appearing in two different cases.

At the outset of the case, the court suspended his sentences on his plea and granted him bail.

The legal experts said the sentences meted out to Malik stood as restored technically after his appeals for the repeal of the sentences were discharged by the court and he might be arrested.

LHC upholds 3 year sentence against Malik

LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court dismissed Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s appeal against his conviction in two references by the Accountability Court on Monday.

The Accountability Court had sentenced Malik to prison for three years each in two corruption cases made by NAB.

Malik’s counsel pleaded that no notice was sent to Malik to appear in the accountability courts during the trial, and any verdict given in his absence was illegal. Malik’s counsel prayed that the court should halt any punishment orders against him.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and Justice Waqar Hassan Mir heard the case.

Legal experts say that Malik is a court absconder and can be arrested at any time.
