That wasn't the case in the 90s and early 2000s. Martial law was a god-send in every sense of the term. Its very disturbing when you think about how badly kleptocrats like nawaz/benazir/zardari wouldve handled the situation if they were in power at that time.

Musharraf understood the psyche of western leaders and how to deal with them. That is why he was able to navigate the country in a troubling era in a better manner.

Don't talk down on the sacrifices of the military. They did what they can to safeguard the frontier regions. When your facing a superpower that very much threatens to reduce you back to the stone age there isn't much of a choice. The results of our front on the war on terror haven't been sustainable because of civilian leaders and their incompetence.

Partially agree with you..but people of kp were treated as if children of lesser god.needed to compensate them but govt didnot.
