[Discussion] Time and time again, we come back to the debate of dialogues vs. operation to end terrorism in Pakistan. All APCs have concluded in the decision of going with dialogues. The growing sentiment in Current Affairs programs on TV has been that Imran Khan and PTI is confused. The big question: Is it Imran Khan who is confused (the man who has been offering the same solution for the last 10 years) or is it the political leaders (who vote for dialogues in All Parties Conferences and oppose dialogues shortly after?) Where do you see yourself in the debate of Operation vs. Dialogues , and why?

The most stupid and pathetic criticism thats coming on KPK Govt is on their inability to stop terrorism.Can anybody tell me since when Terrorism has become a provincial matter? Provincial Govt can only stop crime but terrorism is something that only Army,Agencies and Federal Govt who can stop and they are the one who have the mandate right now to stop this.Unfortunately PTI has brought this day on them themselves.

PTI should have known right from strt that they cant implement their agenda in KPK if terrorism continued and since they are not in Federal Govt,therefore they cant do anything to stop it..Therefore going for KPK govt was a mistake..Moreover they are still repeating the mistake by issuing statements like need of negotiations,stopping army operations etc as if army is going to listen to IK..

Its a desperate time for PTI and IK should come forward and share the reality with people and tell everyone that Army is the one institution that holds all cards in bringing peace and stopping terrorism but they are not interested in negotiations at all.Now if army wants a military operation then thats a big mistake and IK shouldnt be a part ofthis and should resign from KPK on this basis.Pakistan is eventually gonna break one day due to these so called CIA sponsored military operations against the Suadia Supported Talibans and I dont want IK to be a part of it.

I think those responsible to rigged election should be hang, secondly, where is ISI and other intelligence agencies which they not provide the intelligence information to provincial Govt of KPK ... they are just taping phone of politicians and making dollars from Americans ... if they all are interested then must be work together to control this terrorism

I completely agree. IK is making it easy for the federal government by taking all the flak himself. He is attracting all the criticism.

I think Imran Khan is incompetent and makes mistakes after mistakes. He has surrounded himself with a bunch of idiots just as well. However with all that said, I don't think its PTI's fault where the situation is in KPK. KPK was screwed up from the get go even before Imran Khan came around. So I don't blame Imran Khan for KPK's situation at all. And anyone who does, doesn't know wtf they are talking about.

BUT. Imran Khan IS the one calling for negotiations with murderous thugs. This is a BAD move. I don't know who is advisory team is, but they are giving bad advice and he is acting on Bad advice. Once again this brings the conclusion that he is just not cut out to be a political force. I have thought about the thinking behind this move and the ONLY way it makes sense is if the Taliban are a cohesive organization. By giving them offices and formality one could effectively drive a wedge IN the Taliban IF they are a large enough organization. But this is no solution to the matter. Many times terrorists organizations break up by themselves and new one's spawn from the break ups. You would give the Taliban recognition and STOP them. But those Taliban who do not agree with this, will form a New Taliban. The cycle will continue. You gotta understand who you are dealing with. These guys CANNOT be negotiated with.

This brings us to the question that ALL folks ultimately ask, "What is the solution to this problem?" . The solution to this problem is 2 folds and both are not easy, however both do not involve military strikes.
1.) Bring prosperity to the region. Job creation. Education. Infrastructure. Invest heavily in these areas in KPK.
2.) Break the leg the Taliban want to stand on. Islamic Governance. Remove it. Separate Religion from State. At Qayamat when God asks, you tell Him you saved lives.

Two ways as people suggest
1) Military operation
2) Negotiation with Taliban

the problem with advocates of military operation is that they are not confused rather they are very clear.Why they want operation is that these seculars want Pakistan devoid of any Islam loving pakistani and they want to clear Pakistan of all backward madressa going and hijaab wearing muslims.like Egypt this agenda is ofcourse adopted in collusion with US.
2) The problem with operation is this policy has never been successful and always produce counter insurgencies and disoriented local population.probably that is what the advocates of operation also want.Wit negotiation we want to remove grievances of the population if any and leave the American WOT.

The problem is with Fed. Govt. it doesn't want to annoy US and is begging for negotiation with India.it has not taken any step forward nor it has offered any truce or given negotiation call to anyone.

BB the whole country is dependent on USAID and they are not willing to go against the will of US.Because they see dollars and other privileges in remaining attached with US.

No doubt Pak Army should move on and should have a new COAS.
