Dawn Reported CIA flew stealth drones deep in to Pakistan for months before Abbbotabad operation.

The expert says Pakistan would have known. That had been my response from day one, Pakistanis knew, they took part, provided help and logistic in this operation. They are keeping quite of their knowledge and participation in the operation from their country men, to give USA full credit of the operation. Obviously to provide OBAMA victory and increase his popularity at domestic front.

This indeed is a shameful behavior by Pakistani politicians and military alike. These drones flying in Pakistan Air space, over sensitive installations too. It would be naive to think, the only thing they monitored was OBL. Who knows what other images they took?

Another new twist given by the Americans on the images released of Obama and his team watching the action on the screen in situation room.

After admitting that there was a blackout and no video of the operation available, come this justification, the drones provided images of the operation watched by Obama and its team. [hilar][hilar][hilar]

WASHINGTON: The CIA flew new stealth drone planes on dozens of secret missions deep into Pakistan to monitor Osama bin Ladens compound before US commandos killed him, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Citing current and former US officials, the Post said the Central Intelligence Agency used the highly sophisticated unmanned planes to fly undetected at high altitudes and provide high-resolution video months before bin Laden was killed in a dramatic May 2 assault by US Special Forces.

Its not like you can just park a Predator (drone) overhead the Pakistanis would know, a former US official told the newspaper, noting the aircraft provided more enhanced surveillance than other available tools.

But the CIA was also using satellites, eavesdropping equipment and agency operatives based at a safe house in the garrison town of Abbottabad where bin Laden is believed to have lived for about five years until he was found, according to the Post.

The move would highlight the growing mistrust between the United States and Pakistan, two uneasy allies in the fight against terror. The US raid has further strained ties with Islamabad, which has already received about $20 billion in US aid over the past decade.

Pakistani military and intelligence officials are also coming under fire at home for having allowed the US operation seen as a breach of Pakistans sovereignty.

The stealth drones provided imagery that President Barack Obama watched with his national security team as the nighttime raid unfolded, the Post said.
The aircraft can also eavesdrop on electronic transmissions so that US official could listen in on Pakistans response.

US officials noted that Predators and other non-stealth surveillance aircraft could have been detected by Pakistani radar and other systems at military and nuclear facilities near bin Ladens compound.

The drones, which the Post suggested may have been Lockheed Martins RQ-170 Sentinel model, can film at steep angles in all directions and so would not need to hover directly over their target.
