According to historian and author James

Neill: “The love between the first Islamic Ruler in the Indian sub-continent, Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni and his slave Malik Ayaz was such that it became an Islamic legend.“

Malik Ayaz, son of Aymaq Abun-Najm, was a Georgian slave who found himself the rank of officer and general in the army of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni. Malik Ayaz’s relationship with Mahmud inspired many cultural ballads, poems, and stories. Mahmud of Ghazni’s love for his slave Ayaz has been penned down by many in history. It is said that the two both slaves for each other. Mahmud later raised Ayaz to unprecedented standards and made him the King of Lahore.

As per a popular Islamic folk legend, the following events record the deep relationship of Mahmud of Ghazni and Ayaz

Mahmud to Ayaz: “Who is the most powerful ruler in the world?”

Ayaz replied: “I am the most powerful”

Mahmud said: “Why you and why not me?”

Ayaz replied: “You, Mahmud, are the most powerful of all kings, But since I rule your heart, I am more powerful still.“

As per another incident mentioned in ‘Bustan’ by great Persian poet Sadi:

Someone said: “Ayaz, his favorite slave possesses no beauty. It is strange that a nightingale should love a rose that has neither color nor perfume.”

Mahmud of Ghazni replied: “My love, O sir, is for virtue, not for form or stature“.

Ek hi saff mein kharay hogaye Mahmud o Ayaz,
Na koi banda raha na koi banda nawaz!

This particular shayr now portrays more meaning than ever.

If Gaznavi was such a person then why that platonic love was not with other slaves... Gaznavi got lacs of slaves!

Remember the stories mentiond in main thread post also reflects on the traditions of Islamic society of that part of the world that loving a beautiful slave boy was acceptable!

Why can't it be platonic? Sometimes two people just have a strong emotional connection minus the physical intimacy. Doesn't mean you have to develop strong platonic relationships with everyone else too.

In such a society people become careful and avoid to have such plotanic love with males lest they were too be seen in such sexual relationship unless one in inclined towards such sexual relationship!

Well not everyone cares about what the society thinks all the time....Exceptions always exist. Now I personally have no problem if they were in a non-platonic relationship... The point I wanted to make was that why does it have to sexual? Why can't it just be a beautiful friendship or an emotional connection?

Let's apply some sciences!

Science of sociology......If a bad habit is prevalent is a society, the people who donot want to be part of such practice refrain from even minute things related to such practice... He fails!

Science of religiosity....if a religion bans some thing people refrain to practice the minute elements which leads to such things and a blame... He fails!

Science of Spirituality.... A plotanic love only possible between two males in this category, But a sole inclined towards spirituality cannot be inclined towards mass looting, mass lies ,mass destruction,mass enslavery, mass murder and genocide ....He fails!

Science of sociology .... If a social behavior which is considered bad is prevalent in a society those who want to be part of it often practice it like we are not like you think we are something else... He passes!

Science of sexuality ... Everyone has his own choices, if one have sex with thousand people.. There will always be one out of those thousands who attracts or gives the most pleasure .... He passes!

Platonic love is out of question in Gaznavi case ,He was a worst person ever born on earth thousand times evil than Hitler and may be a killer of more human beings than Halako Khan!
