I was raised in Karachi ( don't live in Pakistan anymore) Let me tell you the practice in my neighborhood ... they would come to your houe before the election days ... get the ID card of the head of the family and count the members , then would announce , if every eligible voter didn't show to vote for the mafia , there will not be the same number of family members left in that house hold . Hate the MOFOs !
p.s : I know the post only asked for an opinion on mqm but just to be fair I wanna add this , everyone who is responsible for blood shed in Karachi may die ! and we all know the Mafia movement is leading the bunch .

No finger pointing and no accusation. We all know what is happening and have our opinions about it.

Well I am a 28yo from Karachi and if someone wants to categorize me they can call me "Urdu Speaking" and I dont support the MQM.

I will never vote for them. Most of my friends (70%) are of the same view and my family which is historically MQM voters are not gonna vote for them either. Even my Pathan friends never vote for ANP.

Both ANP and MQM have done the biggest harm to thier community.


Just wanted to find out how many karachiites here would actually vote for MQM after this mayhem?

Like i said no finger pointing, just want to see if MQM has lost any support and are they still popular..

I am Urdu Speaking and except two of my close relatives, all hated MQM from the core of their hearts . . . . And in this close relatives circle, there are atleast 200 MQM haters versus 4 MQM supporters . . . .

Yar MQM was once a very nice political party. I was an umbrella to all the urdu speaking people of Pakistan. But i dont know what happened to them after Musharraf left. I dont vote for them i get my vote giving by them and i have no problem in that. Dude.. I was expecting this argument, thats why I gave example of 1993 and 1997. there was a BAN on MqM.. It was military operation .. No campaign no activity .. no flags were allowed... Army 's controlled Polling stations with Army presence Inside the Polling stations.. and MQM got even Higher Votes than previous Elections. Does it ring any bells to you? What you saying is too generic and i agree.
