This is just my thought and not to insight hatred or offend any religion. If you are very "too"passionate about belief please leave this post. Otherwise you are most welcome to comment.

Last night i was thinking about GOD and what good have I done in my life so far.Initially I thought about wrong doings, I couldn't find any thing too bad i have done in this world. I don't remember any thing i have done intentionally to hurt any other people or animal or even to nature (however i might have offended visitors of this forum by my post but nothing too serious).
I am pure vegetarian, don't drink, don't smoke haven't had any fight (physical) since living primary school. I have strong educational background with two masters degrees from top 100 universities in the world. I am supporting my family as well as my extended family. Everyday i try to wake up at 5:am start my day with bit of sport/ meditation/ and yoga and most importantly prayer. My parents tought me prayers since i was child and have been praying everyday. I am sponsoring two children(girls) one in India(dalit child) one in Africa (in Ghana her parents died of Aids). I have promised to God that if I get a hefty pay rise. I will want to sponsor a Pakistani girl this time.

So after thinking about this for some time I imagined If there is a Hindu/ Buddhist or Sikh or Jain god in heaven then most certainly I'll have big chance of going to heaven because of My karma.

But what if Muslims are right and there is a Muslim God in heaven? Then i will end up in hell for ignoring to become Muslim. However,As we say God is merciful and he makes an exception for me and lets me go to heaven. What would I do there? All my friends family members, ancestors, relatives will be in hell anyway for not being a Muslim. Similarly most of the people I admire writers, musicians, scientists, religious leaders, political leaders, artists etc are also non Muslims so they have also got no chance to go to heaven. There are Muslims that I admire too but that is not enough.

So I have made my mind that when I die and it turns out that God i was praying my whole life was fake. God is a Muslim God after-all, then I will look into his eyes with my head high and beg him to let me go to hell where I belong. to......

U seem to be a good person. U said u r a literate person. Did u ever in ur life try to find out the real truth behind the life. Do u really think that there's so many different gods who decide for different sections of ur Luck (if u beleive in Luck and Fate). If an almighty creator is not even capable of deciding the fate of his creature, then he shud not be honoured to be the GOD at all. Think about it. As far as ur wish for going to the hell is concerned, Allah is all Merciful beyond ur imagination. He will definitely grant u for ur good deeds. But worshipping the hand made or factories made idols........ the real powers behind those idols who do u worship for, definitely belongs to Allah. Do think about it

Thanks for you kind comments, We Hindus are not stupid you know, we do understand things you mentioned above.
to clear your concept, let me inform you of the 9 principles which are the bedrock of Hinduism.

1. Hindus believe in a one, all-pervasive Supreme Being who is both immanent and transcendent, both Creator and Unmanifested Reality.
2. Hindus believe in the divinity of the four Vedas, the world's most ancient scripture, and venerate the Agamas as equally revealed. These primordial hymns are God's word and the bedrock of Sanatana Dharma, the eternal religion.
3. Hindus believe that the universe undergoes endless cycles of creation, preservation and dissolution.
4. Hindus believe in karma, the law of cause and effect by which each individual creates his own destiny by his thoughts, words and deeds.
5. Hindus believe that the soul reincarnates, evolving through many births until all karmas have been resolved, and moksha, liberation from the cycle of rebirth, is attained. Not a single soul will be deprived of this destiny.
6. Hindus believe that divine beings exist in unseen worlds and that temple worship, rituals, sacraments and personal devotionals create a communion with these devas and Gods.
7. Hindus believe that an enlightened master, or satguru, is essential to know the Transcendent Absolute, as are personal discipline, good conduct, purification, pilgrimage, self-inquiry, meditation and surrender in God.
8. Hindus believe that all life is sacred, to be loved and revered, and therefore practice ahimsa, noninjury, in thought, word and deed.
9. Hindus believe that no religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others, but that all genuine paths are facets of God's Light, deserving tolerance and understanding.

God and Religion were made by us humans for our convenience...Religion needs to change and adjust for us, not the other way round.

I find this article might be useful to pandit jee & contra if they really read it with open heart..
===============================================
We will be asked in the Day of judgment about five things.
The prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: The son of Adam will not pass away from Allah until he is asked about five things: how he lived his life, and how he utilized his youth, with what means did he earn his wealth, how did he spend his wealth, and what did he do with his knowledge. {Good hadith reported by Imam At-Tirmithi}

We will be asked in the Day of Jajument about all of the blessings and bounties that Allah gave us in this life. Some of these blessings may include our good health, our wealth, our food and drink, our ride and our home, etc. Allah (S.W.T.) says in the Noble Qur'an, what could be translated as, Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (You indulged in, in this world). ( Surat Al-Takathir, Verse 8)

The Messenger described the questioning in a speech reported by Imam Muslim that the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "Allah (S.W.T.) will meet a person and ask him: "O person, Wasn't I generous with you, and made you with a spouse, and made the horses and camels at your disposal? The servant will reply "yes"! Allah (S.W.T.) will then ask Did you think that you will meet me? He will reply: "No!" Allah (S.W.T.) will say: "I will forget you like you forgot me"! Then Allah (S.W.T.) will meet another person and his reply will be the same as the first person. Then Allah (S.W.T.) will meet a third person and will ask similar questions, and the person's reply will be: "O Lord I believed in you, in your books, and in your messengers. I prayed, I fasted, and I gave charity. And he will praise Allah as much as he can. Allah (S.W.T.) will say: "Hold on to your words, Now we will bring the witnesses. The person will ask himself Who will testify against me? Then that persons mouth will be sealed, and his thighs, flesh and bones will be asked to speak. They will speak about his bad deeds. He will know that he has no excuse. That is the hypocrite Allah (S.W.T.) will be furious with!

Allah (S.W.T.) describes that situation in what could be translated as, "On the day when their tongues, their hands, and their feet will bear witness against them as to their actions". surat An-Nur, (verse 24). Also Allah (S.W.T.) says what could be translated as, "And they will say to their skin:" Why did you bear witness against us? "They will say "Allah has caused us to speak, as He cause all things to speak." ( Surat Al-Fussillat, Verse 21)

Very interesting and inspiring post. Just to let you know that the emotion you experienced is very common among the educated class of all the religions.
I too compare my religion with others'.

It is to be noted that no religion was introduced to people when everything was running smoothly in the society it was introduced in. It is evident that all the religions came into existence when there was chaos among the people. Religion became an instrument of guidance to bring peace and logic. Since education was a luxury in ancient times therefore religions became the teachers of the societies. People were offered inflexible rules to structure their lives. As the time progresses, circumstances and necessities of a society changes. The religion becomes a victim to its own inflexibility and misuse. One religion is cannibalized by another. One religion capitalizes on the changing circumstances of the society and weaknesses of the other religion (the older one). For example, Buddhism comes into existence when Hinduism causes too much violence because of the power struggle and corruption due to the caste system. Buddhism brings in a lot of spirituality and peace to violent times. But as the time progresses and world becomes a little peaceful than the inpracticality of Buddhism is exposed. Its too spiritual and peaceful in nature. Not practical to practice Buddhism when a society goes through a drought at some places and fertile conditions at the other places. People with droughts would fight over the resources in order to survive. Islam comes in the region. It capitalizes on Hinduism's caste system and Buddhism's ultra spirituality. Islam promises punishments within lifetimes of people because it is more practical. Islam does not leave bad deeds to be accounted by the god only in the life hereafter. Instead, it chops off people's hand if they steal. An eye for an eye for other crimes. It helps people getting justice in their lifetimes rather than sometime after their lives. Islam is followed by secularism. Secularism grows in more peaceful and less crime infested times. Hence chopping people's heads and hands appear to be ancient and less necessary. Who knows, what is to follow after secularism? It will be a function of the changes in circumstances in a society. How violent or peaceful it would be. (Note I am only talking about the religious history of the contemporary religions within our region, south asia. Same theory applies to other regions of the world with different religions).

It should be noted that when religious conversions take place it is usually the weakest and the poorest of the older religion that are more prone to be won by the new religion. For example, low caste hindus are more prone to embrace Islam, Christianity or some other religion rather than the brahamans. Same applies to Muslim women who start to move away from islam to embrace secularism, once they are exposed to free societies. Muslim men are relatively less exposed to conversion because of the superior status enjoyed by them.

As we continue to grow educationally, there is less and less guidance required form others to live our lives. We, as compared to our ancestors, are more educated and perhaps intelligent. With education we are capable o analyze things and make our own decisions. Hence less reliance on inflexible rules of religion. The biggest source of our education is now science not religion. Majority of the educated spend more time learning science rather than understanding the religious believes. Unfortunately science has taken the stance to prove the religion wrong. Hence the people who are uneducated are brainwashed by the religion and the educated ones are a victim of science's bias towards religion. There are also people like you and I. We are educated. We went to universities but we were also taught by our parents the religious values. Hence probably balanced time between the religious studies and our technical studies. People like us try to justify the religion via our understanding of it. Ironically, our scientific and other technical training gives us ability to analyze things. We use these analytical things to prove our religions right. We probably can do a better job in justifying the religion than the hardcore religious people who don't go to universities and colleges. We see the strengths of our religions but also the religions of the others. This situation gets worse if you move to another country and get exposed to even more religions. The you learn that people in general are the same. They want a peaceful and healthy life. You also notice that the people get exploited by their religious and political leaders in all the countries. You start seeing the bigger picture of the world. One human being can't be superior to the other one simply because the way he prays or meditates. There are days when I find more peace when I pray. There some days when I find it more relaxing to just watch TV, movies or read an entertaining book (a form of prayer for secularism - provides relaxation as a religious prayer does).

In summary, you are a hindu because your parents were. I am a muslim because my parents were. In today's relatively peaceful times, not many people convert. With all of its evils, world still has a lot of good people. As long as you don't hurt some one physically and emotionally and you do not become a silent witness of something bad being done to another person, I don't know if the God really cares how you worship him. In other words, The true God can't give up on his people who took care of his other people.

I am a Muslim who respects other religions. And I think that the majority of muslims do.

---It's not uncommon to go through a phase of contemplation.Human beings have been known to turn to Religion and found it as a source of relief and comfort.

I don't know if the God really cares how you worship him. In other words, The true God can't give up on his people who took care of his other people.

---I Strongly disagree with sher khan's views as this kinda statements and opinions surface just to appease people of other faiths,whereas the real purpose seems to get lost while simply trying to being nice!!God does care as to how HIS creation obey HIM and Perceive HIM...You can't even apply such a logic in any firm where a manager wouldn't care of his employees,manager expects his subordinates to comply fully with the Policies of a company and also does not want those Policies to be changed by anyone..

---You mentioned you have attained two Master degrees from top universities,this goes on to show your passion and thirst to get best of the best knowledge and you probably worked hard to get it,similar zeal must be shown to seek out truth and nothing should hinder that fervor...While being acquainted with the the worldly sciences and information you tend to be as open as possible always trying to focus hard to get things straight in your heart and mind,the same logic must be applied in sorting out truth from all false.We see in our lives when nurturing and rearing kids that no matter what,we stop them from all what's bad,kids may not understand it, they may even find fire to be attractive and a thing to play with but parents know it's harmful and detriment for their kids,kids with their limited intellect at that time are helpless to conceive the harmful effects of fire they only are attracted to it by it's glow and glitter but as they grow older they realize that they were wrong and Parents only stopped them for their betterment.

--God the Creator of all the Universe and all the creation known and unknown to humans, knows what's best for us and has left us with rules and guidelines to abide by and have given different opportunities for us to Acknowledge HIS True Presence and Obey HIS Commands..One of the Attributes of Allah (SWT) is Most Merciful and Most Just,HE does justice with all HIS Creation just as if someone is charitable and does good with fellow human beings,Allah (SWT) rewards such a person (Non-Muslim) in this World with all the good things that being Wealth,Health and other things that might be useful for that person but the effect is limited to this world only for a Non-muslim.

--The purpose and the spirit of the word "God" is lost when people with their limited sense try to relate HIM with HIS creation whom Allah (SWT) has created in pairs whereas the Quality of God is above all this.HE is all Alone,by HIMSELF..As is so Eloquently mentioned in simply 4 verses in The Holy Quran chapter 112:1-4

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;And there is none like unto Him.

--All the things have to be imagined and respected in their true form and this attribute of Monotheism belongs to Only Allah (The One and Only God).Truth is only one and rest of the versions have only been created by human beings to make life only more complex for themselves.Muslims are duty bound to convey this message of Monotheism to all their fellow human beings,it's quite the opposite of worldly possessions where one could become greedy and tries to hide good things from others so they may not benefit off of it..

--You can't grade any student for only being humble and respectful to a teacher,he needs to study hard to get thru the exam,teacher may sympathize with student for bearing good morals but the student have left him no choice but simply to fail him...Allah (SWT) has prescribed everything in the Holy Quran in order to pass this exam and be amongst the Believers and This Holy Book is only an arm's reach for the one with an honest and true intention to realize his True Creator and submit to HIS command..In these Modern times everything is so easily Accessible and Information can be attained on finger tips yet again one resort to being lethargic and hesitant deliberately,it's is his own doing trying to shy away from truth and be on a run.

--Leave you with a thought,since you believe in One God then you may humbly and truthfully ask the Only One Creator of the whole Universe to show you the Right Path and you must seek this with a sincere and true intention along with the struggle to be willing to accept it.

Great post sher_khan. If people could realize the facts in your post, there would be NO bloodshed in the name of religion. There is ONLY one creator of this universe. Remember the word Allah is actually an Arabic word and even Arab Christians used to use the same word for God. Similarly, Khuda is a Persian/Urdu word for God. YaHuwaAeli is the Hebrew word for God. Eeshwar is the Hindi word for God. I'm quoting a verse which has been repeated in the Quran twice. Anyone who has studied the Quran would understand how important something becomes when its repeated twice or thrice in the Quran as Allah(SWT) has chosen his words very carefully and if something has been repeated, its for a good reason.
This verse appears is Surah Baqara and Surah-e-Maida both of which were revealed towards the very end of the entire Quranic revelation. (Please dont be confused by the order is which Surahs are in the Quran today. The order in which Surahs were revealed and the order in which they were compiled by the 3rd Caliph (RA) is different. The Quran has been compiled according to the length of the Surahs - from longest to shortest, regardless of the order or revelation.)

Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah 2, Verse 62)

Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah 5, Verse 69)

The above verse clearly tells us that regardless of religion, as long as a human being believes in ONE God and the Last Day of Judgment and does good deeds, he/she will definitely have nothing to fear on Judgement Day.

Meri Dua hai kay Allah(SWT) hum sab ko Quran kay payghaam ko Sahi samajhnay ki Taufeeq Ata farmaiy. Ameen.

@Taul and nabeel117:

I respect your opinion and I am not in a position to agree or disagree with you guys. As I have already mentioned in my previous post that I don't know.

However, I have a following question for you guys, which is not to support my argument but to simply have a discourse on this topic on hand:

I am using NP as an example because of the convenience only since he started the thread and don't mean to be imposing.

What would be your preferred choice?

1. A NP who is a muslim, performs all the prayers of Islam and takes care of the humankind the way he is doing right now, that is helping people regardless of their religious background
2. A NP who is a muslim, performs all the prayers of Islam and is self-centred and does not care about anyone else and does not help anyone else, although he has the resources.
3. A NP who is Hindu, performs his prayers based on Hinduism and takes care of the humankind the way he is doing right now, that is helping people regardless of their religious backgrond.

Obviously, the first choice for all of us would be number one. But what would be your second choice? Which NP would you prefer to know, hangout or trust after number one and why?

nabeel117

@SherKhan:
Now we have 2 separate matters on our hand:

1- Obviously the choices are selected as you described them respectively.

2- But do u think that, Allah don't care how I worship Him ?

1st Kalma:

a- There is no God(Ilah) except Allah (Ilah= Raziq+Malik+Khaliq+Rab and no one is Ilah except Allah)
b- Muhammad Sallallah ho Alahai wa Salm is His prophet (Showing that the only way of living+praying+thanking+worshiping Allah etc is the way the Prophet shows us by his action and the only way of having a successfull here n hereafter is to follow his way of life).

What do you thing that why our Prophet (Sallallah ho Alaihai wa Salam) was praying to Allah to make his uncle (ABu Talib) to accept Islam if its not matter how he worship Him?
