hello friends, Im Stephen and I live in a small country called Wales in the UK although I am from Liverpool which is in England. Every winter we travel to India but must confess the nearest I have been to Pakistan is the Wagha (check spelling) border crossing and from there I witnessed the saddest show ever with crowds on each side barracking at each other it looked more like a modern day gladiator fight, very sad so much so they we left it early. I would love to visit Pakistan one day as I know how warm and friendly muslim people are but at this moment in time I feel its not safe to do so. Anyhow more about me I love to travel and watch football/soccer and cricket. My job is as a nurse looking after adults with mental health problems and the job can be very stressfull (thumbsdown). So thats me I hope to meet some friends on here who can give me a taste of what life is like in your country, thats me," Hello" im Stephen

Wow Bret, Thank you for the Welcome, Although I was born in the UK my family roots are Irish. As for the stance a Goverment may take or follow even thats impossible to blame the man on the street for that and as you also have in your country like we have here are men like sheep who do not not think for themselves and they allow themselves to be swept along on crusade's even when they go against all that is good. I myself feel for the normal people of Pakistan although the closest I have been is the border crossing, I try to follow what goes on there by watching the news(al jezeera) and reading local papers in English, through the internet we can also get a taste of what goes on there. Next month i will have my 5th trip to India but live in hope that one day I can visit your country, but at this moment in time its not possible. I did find the SIASAT by searching for peoples views on the murder of Mr Taseer which I have been following for some days now. Although I dont live under the laws of Pakistan I think by educating myself about what is happing there may go someway to understanding more about the people because I know there are more good people than bad and the western news just seems to show the bad side.

Though I would say it was a nice try to get in touch to see the issues from a different angle because in this way you would be able to understand the story behind the news lines....

last year I read the biography on President Musharraf which can give a little insight from the top, but by reading through the posts on this site I can get a picture/taste of what the people of Pakistan are thinking and saying. Do older people say it was better in past years or is it better today under the present leadership ? if im asking these questions in the wrong room please say so, plus I mean no offence by any of my questions.
