Different Arab region use to have different dialects of arabic language and there were some issues in meaning of same word of Quran in different regions so they started to localize the versions of Quran it was like translation but the translation was in different arabic dialect. Those differences you have mentioned were because of that. it was the precise reason to standardized the version of Quran in Hazrat Usman's era.

I am sure you are not asking to accept a translation as original one.

These are not the translations........ these are transmissions

and there is no stander transmission or copy of Quran in Muslim world to know which transmission is right or which is wrong !

Hence Muslim scholars declare all the transmissions are right ....... But the most circulated transmission is Hafis nowadays

Well....it does not matter much how old it is...could be a stunt..interesting to note is that the old copy is with the English and not the muslims. Sometimes these people create fake mummies, fake antiques and all is done in the name of creating media hype etc. Even if this gets burnt , wont make a difference...i am pretty sure it is a media stunt by the English to get some money from the Sheiks.

If the radiocarbon dating is correct , it is a major discovery , the one I and Muslims have been waiting for a long long long time .

The problem was that copies of Quran earlier than 800 AD were scarce and doubtful . This parchment is approximated to almost 20 years after the death of the prophet and helps in establishing historical continuity of Quran and helps authenticates things related to the prophet of Islam .

Some pages must be redated and put in Muslim owned Museums of Africa and Asia too and philanthropists should help that . If true it is a major discovery of our lifetime .

Ancient Quran discovered in England will 'rejoice Muslim hearts'

In what has been termed a 'startling' discovery, the UK’s Birmingham University has unveiled parts of what may be the world’s oldest known version of the Quran, Islam’s holy text.


Though the Muslim holiday of Eid-al-Fitr just came to an end, many Muslims may find that they have yet another reason to rejoice.

In what has been considered a “startling” discovery, the UK’s Birmingham University unveiled what may be the world’s oldest remnants of the Quran, Islam’s holy text.

“Researchers conclude that the Qur’an manuscript is among the earliest written textual evidence of the Islamic holy book known to survive,” the university wrote in an official statement. “This gives the Qur’an manuscript in Birmingham global significance to Muslim heritage and the study of Islam.”


Oxford University carried out a radiocarbon analysis of the text and found that the parchment on which it is written could be traced back to the years between AD 568 and 645 with 95 percent accuracy.
The results suggest the manuscript was written less than 20 years after Prophet Muhammad’s death, as he is generally thought to have lived between AD 570 and 632.

“They could well take us back to within a few years of the actual founding of Islam,” wrote Professor of Islam and Christianity David Thomas and Professor of Interreligious Relations Nadir Dinshaw, both of Birmingham University.
According to Muslim tradition, Prophet Muhammad had a vision in 610. Speaking through the angel Gabriel, God ordained him to become the Arab prophet. Up until his death in 632, the Prophet and others continued to collect religious revelations that would form the Quran.

Most of the revelations were originally preserved in the “memories of men,” the professors wrote, until Caliph Abu Bakr, Islam’s first leader after Muhammad, ordered the collection of all Quranic material in book form.
The final written form was completed around AD 650 under the rule of the third leader, Caliph Uthman.

“Muslims believe that the Qur’an they read today is the same text that was standardized under Uthman and regard it as the exact record of the revelations that were delivered to Muhammad,” the professors wrote. The newly discovered text suggests that belief is highly plausible.

"These portions must have been in a form that is very close to the form of the Qu’ran read today, supporting the view that the text has undergone little or no alteration and that it can be dated to a point very close to the time it was believed to be revealed,” they added.

Preserved on two parchment leaves, the text contains parts of Suras (chapters) 18 to 20 written with ink in an early form of Arabic script known as Hijazi. For nearly a century, the manuscript had been misplaced with leaves of a similar Quranic manuscript, which is also datable to the late seventh century.

The manuscript is “one of the most surprising secrets of the University’s collections,” wrote Professors Thomas and Dinshaw.The Quranic manuscript is part of the University’s Mingana Collection of Middle Eastern manuscripts in the Cadbury Research Library. The library received the texts in 1920 from Alphonse Mingana, a Chaldean priest who was born in Iraq and settled in England after philanthropist Edward Cadbury funded his trips to the Middle East to acquire historical texts.

'This is indeed an exciting discovery,” wrote Dr. Muhammad Isa Waley, Lead Curator for Persian and Turkish Manuscripts at the British Library. “Along with the sheer beauty of the content and the surprisingly clear Hijazi script, [this] is news to rejoice Muslim hearts,” Dr. Waley added.

All you need is a 1400 year old blank piece of sheep skin and you can write what ever you want on it Carbon Dating would not prove its authentic.

Just wait and see. They may come up with more pages later with claims that they belong to this old skript. And in those pages they may try to change a few concepts of islam which do not suit the West today.

Carbon dating will only tell you how old the sheepskin is. It wont tell you whether the text is authentic or not or who wrote it or when it was written. There are many ways to test it, for example if there is a missing copy of Quran in history, and what is the hand writing and when was this style of hand writing used.

[۱]حروف مقطعات:
ان حروف کو مقطعات کہتے ہیں ان کے اصلی معنی تک اوروں کی رسائی نہیں ۔ بلکہ یہ بھید ہے اللہ اور رسول کے درمیان جو بوجہ مصلحت و حکمت ظاہر نہیں فرمایا۔ اور بعض اکابر سے جو ان کے معنی منقول ہیں اس سے صرف تمثیل و تنبیہ و تسہیل مقصود ہے یہ نہیں کہ مراد حق تعالیٰ یہ ہے تو اب اس کو رائے شخصی کہ کر تغلیط کرنا محض شخصی رائے ہے جو تحقیق علماء کے بالکل خلاف ہے۔
[۲] قرآن میں شک نہ ہونے کا مطلب:
یعنی اس کے کلام الہٰی ہونے اور اس کے جملہ مضامین کے واقعی ہونے میں کچھ شک نہیں جاننا چاہیئے کہ کسی کلام میں اشتباہ ہونے کی دو صورتیں ہیں یا تو خود اس کلام میں کوئی غلطی اور خرابی ہو یا سننے والے کے فہم میں خلل ہو۔ اول صورت میں محل ریب یہ کلام ہے اور دوسری صورت میں محل ریب حقیقت میں سمجھنے والے کا فہم ہے ۔ کلام بالکل حق ہے گو اس کو اپنی نافہمی سے وہ کلام محل ریب معلوم ہو۔ سو اس آیت میں ریب کی صورت اول کی نفی فرمائی ہے تو اب یہ شبہ کہ کلام اللہ کے کلام الہٰی اور حق ہونے میں تو سب کفار کو ریب و انکار تھا پھر اس نفی کے کیا معنی۔ بالکل جاتا رہا ۔ باقی رہی صورت ثانی اس کو آگے چل کر فرما دیا گیا وَ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ فِیۡ رَیۡبٍ الخ
[۳]یہاں سے اخیر قرآن تک جواب ہے اِہۡدِ نَا الصِّرَاطَ الۡمُسۡتَقِیۡمَ کا جو سوال بندوں کی طرف سے ہوا تھا۔
[۴]مومنین کی صفات:
یعنی جو بندے اپنے خدا سے ڈرتے ہیں اُن کو یہ کتاب راستہ بتلاتی ہے کیونکہ جو اپنے خدا سے خائف ہو گا اس کو امور مرضیہ اور غیر مرضیہ یعنی طاعت و معصیت کی ضرور تلاش ہو گی اور جس نافرمان کے دل میں خوف ہی نہیں اس کو اطاعت کی کیا فکر اور معصیت سے کیا اندیشہ۔
[۵]یعنی جو چیزیں انکے عقل و حواس کے مخفی ہیں (جیسے دوزخ ۔ جنت۔ ملائکہ وغیرہ) ان سب کو اللہ اور رسول کے ارشاد کی وجہ سے حق اور یقینی سمجھتے ہیں اس سے معلوم ہوا کہ ان امور غائبہ کا منکر ہدایت سے محروم ہے۔
[۶]اقامت صلوٰۃ کا یہ مطلب ہے کہ ہمیشہ رعایت حقوق کے ساتھ وقت پر ادا کرتے ہیں۔
[۷]سب طاعتوں کی اصل تین ہیں ۔ اول جو باتیں دل سے تعلق رکھتی ہیں، دوسری بدن سے، تیسری مال سے سو اس آیت میں ہر سہ اصول کو ترتیب وار لے لیا۔
[۸]اس سے پہلی آیت میں ان لوگوں کا بیان تھا جن مشرکین نے ایمان قبول کیا (یعنی اہل مکہ) اور اس آیت میں ان کا بیان ہے جو اہل کتاب (یعنی یہود و نصارٰی) مشرف با اسلام ہوئے۔

​​برمنگھم یونیورسٹی میں اسلام اور عیسایت کے ماہر پروفیسر ڈیوڈ تھامس نے اسکائی نیوز کو بتایا 'کہ یہ ایک چونکا دینے والا نتیجہ ہے،جس نے یونیورسٹی کےمجموعےمیں سے حیرت انگیز راز کا انکشاف کیا ہے ۔'
انھوں نے کہا کہ'اس تاریخ سے یہ کہا جا سکتا ہے کہ اسلام کے چند سال بعد کا نسخہ ہے اور اگر نسخہ واقعی اتنا قدیم ہےتو یہ اسلام کے پیغمبر حضرت محمد کا زمانہ تھا وہ چھٹی اور ساتویں ہجری میں حیات تھے'۔
انھوں نے کہا کہ 'لائبریری میں پائے جانے والے نسخے سے اس خیال کو تقویت ملی ہے کہ قرآن کے حصے ابتدائی دنوں سے زیادہ تبدیل نہیں ہوئے اور قرآن کا وہ حصہ جو چمڑے کے ان دو ورق پر موجود ہے بے شک قرآن کی موجودہ شکل سے بہت قریب ہے۔'
یونیورسٹی کی خصوصی مجموعے کی ڈائریکٹر سوسن وورل نے اس دریافت کو سنسنی خیز قرار دیا ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا ریڈیو کاربن ٹیسٹ نے ایک دلچسپ نتیجے کو جنم دیا ہے،جس سے قرآن کی ابتدائی شکل کے بارے میں ہماری معلومات میں اضافہ ہوا ہے۔
پروفیسر سوسن وورل کے مطابق، 'ہم بہت پرجوش ہیں کیونکہ اتنے اہم تاریخی دستاویزات یہاں برمنگھم سے ملے ہیں، جو برطانیہ کا سب سے متنوع ثقافت رکھنے والا شہر ہے‘۔
برٹش لائبریری میں فارسی اور ترکی مسودات کے ماہر محمد عیسی ویلی نے کہا کہ' ہم اب جان گئے ہیں کہ حجازی رسم الخط میں ہاتھ سے تحریر کردہ یہ دو ورق بلاشبہ مسلمانوں کے پہلے تین خلفائے راشدین کے زمانے کے ہیں۔'
انھوں نے کہا کہ 'حیران کن حجازی لکھائی کے ساتھ قرآن کے قدیم نسخے کی دریافت ایک نئی خبر ہے، جسے سن کر مسلمان خوش ہوں گے'۔
قرآن پاک کا یہ نسخہ برمنگھم فائن آرٹس شعبہ میں اکتوبر میں عوامی نمائش کے لیے پیش کیا جائے گا ۔
ظہور اسلام کے وقت اور اس کے بعد فن تحریر:
مورخین نے لکھا ہے کہ پیغمبر اسلام کی بعثت سے کچھ عرصہ پہلےجزیرہ عرب کے کونے کونے میں کتابت کا انحصار چند گنے چنے لوگوں پر تھا۔ ان ہی میں ابوسفیان کے والد حرب بن امیہ بھی شامل تھے، جو کتابت اور رسم الخط میں قریشیوں کے استاد تھے۔ مکہ کے قبیلہ قریش کے لوگوں نے ان سے جو رسم الخط سیکھا تھا وہ انباری حیری رسم الخط تھا ،جو حجاز میں منتقل ہونے کے بعد حجازی رس الخط کے نام سے موسوم ہوا اور اس وقت کاتبین عرب کے ہاں یہی لکھائی رائج تھی۔
جب اسلام دنیا کے نقشے پر ظاہر ہوا تو اس کی کتابت وحی کے لیے بھی اسی رسم الخط کو اختیار کیا گیا، جبکہ نبی کی مدنی زندگی میں حجازی لکھائی کو اہل کوفہ کی لکھائی سے موسوم کردیا گیا۔
اس زمانے میں جب قرآن تھوڑا تھوڑا وحی کے ذریعے پیغمبر اسلام پر نازل ہوتا تھا تو صحابہ قرآنی آیات کو حفظ کرنے کے بعد زبانی لوگوں تک پہنچایا کرتے تھے، اس زمانے میں کاغذ کی کم یابی کی وجہ سے صحابہ کرام قرآن کی کتابت کاکام کھجور کے پتوں، پتھروں، کاغذ اور چمڑے کے ٹکڑوں اور اونٹ کے شانے کی ہڈیوں پر کیا کرتے تھے۔
مسلمانوں کے پہلے خلیفہ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق نے حضور کی وفات کے بعد قرآنی آیات کو اکھٹا کرنے کا حکم دیا جبکہ آخری مستند تحریری صحیفہ قرآن تیسرے خلیفہ حضرت عثمان کی خلافت میں سنئہ

ہجری میں منظر عام پر لایا گیا تھا۔
مورخین نے لکھا ہے کہ تاتاریوں میں جنھوں نے دسویں ہجری میں اسلام قبول کر لیا تھا ان میں پہلے سے قرآن کی کتابت کرنے کی روایت موجود تھی۔قرآن مجید ہر تاتار کے گھر پر ہوا کرتا تھا حتیٰ کہ جب قرآن پاک چھاپا جانے لگا تو بھی ہاتھ سے قرآن تحریر کرنے کی روایت برقرار رکھی گئی کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس سے زیادہ پرانا نسخہ محفوظ نہیں رکھا جاسکا ہے۔

Carbon dating will only tell you how old the sheepskin is. It wont tell you whether the text is authentic or not or who wrote it or when it was written. There are many ways to test it, for example if there is a missing copy of Quran in history, and what is the hand writing and when was this style of hand writing used.

Writing style is also from the same era.

Fame and money to name a few?
People will readily accept anything that conforms to their beliefs without bothering with the evidence.
Once there is a verse that is found to be contradictory with today, then the same people will be foaming in the mouth screaming conspiracy.
Thats the reality of people. They do not want to hear the truth they only want to hear that makes them confirm their own personal beliefs.

Dear Vitamin_C, you are taking the possibility far too seriously if I may say so. Such nature of forgeries are not that easily created nor they can be hidden that easily for long. However my point is why will anyone try to make the quran look credible to such degree even if by forgery?
