Read this book, a must for any one interested in Islamic History.

AFTER THE PROPHET by Lesley Hazleton.

ISBN 978-0-385-52393-6

You can find part of this book on Google books too.

Lesley Hazleton amusingly is a Jew. Just imagine how well the other side knows and understands Islam and its history so well.
The book opens paradox one page at a time.

I didnt read the book, but just read an excerpt of chapter 1 from the book and it shows that the writer either does not even know about the life Prophet PBUH or deliberately ignore it.
She wrote:

"If a son had existed, perhaps the whole history of Islam would have been different. The discord, the civil war, the rival caliphates, the split between Sunni and Shia -- all might have been averted. But though Muhammad's pbuh first wife, Khadija, had given birth to two sons alongside four daughters, both had died in infancy, and though Muhammad pbuh had married nine more wives after her death, not one had become pregnant. "
--
She forgot to specify that Hazrat Ibrahim was born from Umm-ul-Mouminin Maria Qubtia RA and died in childhood around at the age of 1 1/2 yrs.

[edit] Daughters

Main article: Genealogy of Khadijah's daughters
The daughters attributed to Muhammad are;

  1. Zainab bint Muhammad, married to her maternal cousin Abu al-Aas ibn al-Rabee before al-Hijra
  2. Ruqayyah bint Muhammad, was first married to Utbah ibn Abu Lahab & then to Uthman ibn Affan
  3. Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad, was first married to Utaybah bin Abu Lahab & then to Uthman ibn Affan after the death of her sister Ruqayyah
  4. Fatimah, was married to Ali ('Ali bin Abi Talib)
According to some Shia Muslim sources she only had one daughter, Fatimah. The others either belonged to her sister[18] or were orphaned girls raised by her[19]. Possibly, all of them were Khadijah's but only Fatimah was born to Muhammad pbuh.[citation needed] Sunni Muslims however do not contest the parentage of her daughters.[citation needed] They affirm what the Qur'an states, "O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers..."[20].[citation needed]
The famous Sunni scholar Yusuf ibn abd al-Barr says: "His children born of Khadīja are four daughters; there is no difference of opinion about that".[21]

Salam dear brothers, I would like to ask why are we wasting time in read book written by a Jew. We all knows that freemasonery is working behind the scene to change the facts and figures. Www.hakikatketabevi.com is a great web site site with all the information about the history Islam, Caliphates, Shia and Sunni divission. For refference you can read confession of a british spy. This web site have all the relavent links, verses from Holy Quran and Hadidh Mubbarak. I dont trust jews as Quran paak and Hadidh Sharif teaches us to be aware of the fitna.
Jazak Allah.

Very well said, good advice. They will always distort or hide some facts, which a reader may not know until he/she has a good study of Islamic history and understands religion very well.

Jazak Allah for recommending the book about our beloved Prophet (pbuh).

This book would definitely be a good source of reading for those members who have already studied some reliable books about the life of our beloved Prophet (pbuh) written by Muslim Scholars but we should really avoid to get first hand knowledge by reading any book written by Non-Muslim about our religion .

Following are some reliable books about the life of our Beloved Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad (pbuh) written by great Scholars:

Madarij-un-Nabuwat by Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlvi
Al-shifa bi ta'arif huquq al-Mustafa (al Shifa) by Imam Qadi Ayyadh
As-Sirah an-Nabawiyyah by Ibn e Hisham
Al-Sira Al-Nabawiyya by Ibn e Kaseer
