The recent discovery of 'zombie ants' in Brazil is quite fascinating. To be clear, these ants are not born zombies. They become zombies after interacting with a particular fungus. Once infected, the fungus takes over the ant's brain and turns them into zombies. Sounds like an awesome comic book character.
The fungus is called Ophiocordyceps unilateralis. Though previously thought to be a single species, scientists recently discovered the fungus "is actually four distinct species - all of which can "mind control" ants, according to the National Geographic. The discoveries were made by a group in Brazil.
Study leader David Hughes, an entomologist at Penn State University, said, "All four known fungi species live in Brazil's Atlantic rain forest, which is rapidly changing due to climate change and deforestation."
Now the One million $$$$ Question, I do wonder if the same variant of this fungus has infected Pakistani minds? Look around us, does it not look like we are Zombies.? I would like to name this Fungus thats killing power of reasoning in our Pakistani youth minds as xxxaxoxxoxxa
