Last elections have lost all it's credibility where even the friendly opposition parties are admitting irregularities at an epic proportions. With massive outpouring of hue and cry on the streets, the chances of NS coming out of this morass is getting meager by the day.
Based on these prevailing ground realities, it is highly unlikely that NS will be able to complete another year let alone his full tenure. His options are also drying up rapidly with the passage of time.
Here are some of the options that NS has left with, barring judicial or military interventions.
1. Resign from premiership
2. Dissolve assemblies
3. Continue with the current strategy with the hope that this popular movement will fizzle out.
4. Nuke the Red Zone and move the capital to Raiwind.
Resignation of PM will create chaos within the party due to jockeying of power by the old time rivals and could potentially result in implosion of the party due to this vacuum.
It will also further expose the culprits and underpinnings of the sham electoral process which will create a chain reaction of accusations and counter accusations. Even powerful and respectable institutions will not be rendered immune to this post resignation mayhem. Therefore, it is in the interest of all involved except PTI to avoid this option at all cost.
Second option makes much more sense as it will keep the nefarious forces behind rigged elections remain unnamed and most of the state machinery involved in rigging could potentially escape unscathed. NS could also keep some semblance of respectability because of this “bold” step.
Last 2 options are highly unlikely, but when Zardari can become a president then anything is possible!!!!
