It was not at the same time, pretty much still going on today. And mostly after the war Arabs were sore about losing but mostly because Israels policy of welcoming any Jew to Israel, unfortunately the Palestinians don't enjoy this same right of return to their own land. But if you are a jew born is some frozen tundra on the russian steppes and your last 10 generations have been there, you can pretty much get up and go.

Land in Israeli and become a Israeli citizen and live on stolen Palestinian land as your own.
