Agreed. I don't think sects were developed with the mindset of creating a sect but to follow sunnah, later called sect by people. Later people created subsects such as brelvi, deobandi in hanafi.

Where is Islam in the whole Subcontinent? People can't do the Imamat of their parents' Janaza or Parents can't perform the Nikah of their children by themselves.
And their Islam means to Prayer without any understand and Devotion and Fastikng is also just a joke...
Lying, Cheating, Shirk etc are so much everywhere in subcontinent that no rooms is left of Islam

Ghamidi has a great view of Islam until it is the classic materialistic reading of Islam, in this regard he is much better than most of the alims, let alone molvis. The problem is that he deals with Islam like a mechanical object. you put an average person on one side and on the other end comes out a guy in a skull cap parading to the mosque. I'm afraid I have to disagree that Islam's intention is to make a typecast Muslim, the ideal Muslim is a Rohani musalman, a Sufi. Yeah Sufism is a complex topic and Ghamidi who is a simplifier, doesn't want something like Sufism as part of his pristine reading of Islam but Sufism is the next step.
(I am not talking about this ignorance and mockery of Sufism that goes on in the majority of places., I meant philosophical Sufism)

This number games argument is such a weak argument and usually the resort of the feeble minded who are running out of logical points to present. For example, even Qaidianis have also converted 1000s of people into their Islam, specially foreigners who don't know any better? The number of people who identify as Christians is more than people who identify themselves as Muslims, so does that mean Qaidianis and Christians are also on the right path?
