What a pathetic approach by DHAGA's of Punjab. They are about to launch a mega project but wait.
First Destroy the most precious
agriculture land and destroy the existing dairy industry and then establish a " Garment City"
As usual, ,,,,,,,,,,,overall Media is silent..........Hats off to Hasb e Haal team who exposed the project .
Sanity does not prevail in
Buttistan of Pakistan

Imagine, Chineese investors telling them not to go for suicide project.
Follow up story.
Garment City
Produce electricity with Coal in residential area.
<font color="#ff0000" style="background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);"><strong><font size="5">
Just imagine what kind a ruler have we got ?
They are destroying precious agriculture land for their personal gain.

Why media is not highlighting this news?

In this report, they said, proposed land produces cotton. I am highly skeptical.
Multan and adjoining areas produce cotton.
They have hundred of cotton related industries.

Why he did not choose those areas which could reduce the transportation cost.
There is no problem to acquire land in that area.
Unemployment is way too high in that area as compare to Gujranwala.

First of all you have to understand the Scarcity of Agriculture land.
Second, this land is already generating employment . Agriculture Land is feeding hundred and thousand of people.

Dairy Industry...It's not only generating employment but also also helping hundred and thousand of people to get access to dairy products.
What about wastage of Capital to destroy the entire industry ?

Why this Government does not help saraikee belt ?

Why they are so neglected ?

Again, Where is public debate on this issue?

What to expect from Tahreek Insaf who should have raised this issue?
It seems, they have got most pathetic piece of **** politician in their ranks.

Shahbaz Sharif has done a good task for the students. I think he should also announced more Scholarships in the Punjab region. It may be a good and beneficial announcement for Students.

Metrobus: mobility and sensibility

1467290_553866288027416_52807363_n.jpg

The ability of a population to move with ease, predictability and appropriate speed to a great extent determines the speed and quality of economic development. In Pakistan the state of our national railways is before all to ponder over.

Lack of mobility of the population adds to the woes of a badly-governed country.

One year down the road it will be in the fitness of things to take a look at what has been achieved, the alternatives ignored, and a fresh look at possible paths ahead.

The project cost Rs29.8 billion for 27 kilometres of track and 45 buses. Yes, just 45 buses. This means the fixed cost was Rs1.103bn per kilometre, or Rs11.0 lakh per foot of track/road.

In terms of buses this means Rs662.2 million per bus. Had there been more buses, naturally, the cost per bus would decrease. Granted that, let us look at the number of stops in this 27 kilometre strip.

The total number of stops is 29, which discounting the beginning at Gajumatta and the end at Shahdara, there are 27 stops in 27 kilometres, or one stop per kilometre.

The official website of the service makes the dubious claim that 140,000 passengers use this service every day. The company record tells us that every bus manages 15 rounds a day.

This means that the average passengers using one complete leg of a trip is 103, which for a 59-seater is terribly low.

Transport records of almost all European countries show that a 79-seater manages to accommodate three times the number of seats per round. In India this comes to seven times the number of seats. In London a normal bus has over 50 stops in a route one-third the length.

This brings forth two basic flaws in the design of this super expensive system. First, this is designed for long-run passengers, and second, it is a stand-alone service that does not integrate with the rest of the city.

If for a city of 12.5 million, let us assume only 20 per cent of the population needs to make one return trip a day. This means five million bus trips.

If a bus manages 15 return-trips a day, irrespective of the length of the route, plying 200 passengers on a 50-seater bus, or 290 on a 79-seater double-decker, means that in such a scenario Lahore needs 2,000 buses.

This is in stark contrast to a paltry 45 buses, with the promise; hold your breath, of 19 more. Surely a complete rethink is needed.

How much monthly/yearly subsidy Government of Punjab is paying to keep running this white elephant ?
Who burnt the official record of this project ?

Uphill task: Punjab CM - you have a promise to keep

Shahbaz Sharif’s promises have a unique ring to them. These come with a certain deadline. At least this is true in case of load shedding, if nothing else.

He has made one promise to the people of Murree, albeit without a deadline and betting on his name. Not only a promise this time, but a formal sanction of Rs50 million for repair of Murree-Kohala Road if one were to believe the provincial highway department.

He yet has to fulfil that promise.

Punjab Highway Department (PHD) XEN Javed Mirza claimed that the Chief Minister (CM) had sanctioned Rs50 million for the repair of the road but funds were not released yet.

He said that renovation of the road will start soon after the funds are released.

The highway department is supposed to take care of the roads of the hill station but due to their apathy many roads are not repaired in years, said a local voicing concern of many.

WHY EVERY THING HAPPENS IN LAHORE ?

Who wille evaluate the " Fun and Games" ?
How many athlets this event will priovide for World Sporting Event like Olympics ?
Did sportman from other cities also participated ?
Who will do the follow up of this games?
Who will follow up the athlets ?
Why Punjab Government is not spending money for sports facilities in Lahore and other areas?
Kids are playing games on roads. Why they are not spending money to improve sports facility in Public School and Colleges?

Fun and games: Rs500 million allocated for Youth Festival expenses

Lahore, The government will spend around Rs500 million on events organised as part of the Punjab Youth festival, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Previously, the Finance Department had provided the Sports Board Rs4.88 million as a supplementary grant for the chief minister’s tour to watch a kabaddi match in India.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Punjab president Ejaz Chaudhry said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party were wasting funds on games.
The events might appear to be promoting culture and sports but they are just publicity stunts, he said. “The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf will raise the issue of massive spending on the Punjab Youth Festival at the next session of the provincial Assembly,” he said.

AFTER BURNING RECORDS OF LAHORE METRO, Punjab cabinet approves extension of metro bus project to four cities.

5-10-2013_22750_l_T.jpg

....did not mention how much had been allocated for the project and when it will be launched.

LAHORE: The Provincial Cabinet in Punjab approved the metro bus project for twin cities of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan, Express News reported on Saturday.
The cabinet was led by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Twin cities
On January 22, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had assured local businessmen that a metro bus project for Rawalpindi would be completed in just 11 months.
He said the provincial government would also improve the road networks of the city soon. However, he did not mention how much had been allocated for the project and when it will be launched.
The estimated cost of Islamabad’s section was worked out at Rs15 billion. The interested firms were asked to submit the required documents to take part in the pre-qualification process.
Lahore
The country’s first metro bus service was inaugurated on February 10 in Lahore last year.
The project, which cost roughly Rs30 billion, was completed in the short span of one year. Under the service, 115 metro buses, with a capacity three times that of ordinary buses, run along a 27km corridor, from Gajju Matta to Shahdra, in Lahore.
