Finally, Saudi Arabia and Israel have common ground for establishing a temporary strategic alliance, similar to the one that existed during World War II between the Soviet Union and United States against the Nazi regime. Both countries mistrust President Barack Obama as a reliable ally and fear the prospect of a nuclear Iran.

Despite the major differences in values and a history of enmity, it seems only rational that Saudi Arabia should seek the unthinkable and cooperate with the Jewish state in order to preserve its survival and political independence. Otherwise, the Saudis and other Persian Gulf states will be the first victims of a nuclear Iran, without a capable, strong and reliable ally to come to their aid.

British Defense Secretary Liam Fox told the House of Commons in January that Iran may be capable of developing nuclear weapons by the end of 2012. By then, most US and Western military forces will be leaving the Middle East, and Israel will be the only remaining military power capable and motivated to militarily solve the Iranian problem.

However, Israel needs strategic cooperation from Saudi Arabia to succeed, including permission to fly over Saudi territory and emergency logistical support. Most importantly, Israel needs Saudi Arabia to delay any international or Arab plan to pressure Israel on establishing a Palestinian state. While the world will be dangerously distracted and waste months with on the Palestinian issue, Iran will be off the world radar and much closer to attaining its goal.

The Saudis should be aware by now of the following truths:

First, Israels leadership is more loyal to its Arab allies than President Obama. While Israel stood by Mubarak, it took Obama three days to call for Egypts president, a long term US friend, to leave office and to threaten him with foreign aid cuts. It seems that Obama only confronts and abandons allies, but prefers not to meddle in the internal revolts of enemies like Syria and Iran.

Second, an ongoing state of war or a campaign of hatred and anti-Semitism against the Jewish state no longer guarantees an Arab regimes political survival, we saw in Syria, Libya and Yemen.

Third, Iran is the main danger to Saudi Arabia and Persian Gulf states, not Israel, as the WikiLeaks cables revealed, with Saudi King Abdullah repeatedly imploring Washington to cut off the head of the snake (Iran) while there was still time.

Fourth, Obama will never advocate a military solution against Iran, as we saw in the last two years with his futile policy of engagement and economic sanctions. Only Israel has the will, the self-interest and the know-how to stop the Iranian menace. Israel already demolished the nuclear reactor in Iraq in 1981 and a Syrian reactor in 2007. After the US withdraws most of its armies from the Middle East, Obamas ideology will negate the possibility of sending US troops to eliminate the Iranian threat.

Fifth, establishing a Palestinian state is not in the best interest of Saudi Arabia or Israel. As previously happened after Israel withdrew its military forces from Gaza in 2005, Hamas will be able to take over the new state by winning subsequent Palestinian elections, as it did in 2006, or by militarily defeating the PA, as it did in 2007. Such state would become another Iranian base, threatening Israel but also destabilizing Jordan next door and encircling the Saudis from the northwest.
Instead of considering initiatives to rally Western countries, including the US, against International recognition of a Palestinian state, Israels leadership should look into creating new alliances, even with traditional enemies. As the Arab proverb says, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Reading this Article, opens one eyes ...... are we sure these Kings are even Muslim?
Have we as muslim handed over Both Islamic Holy Cities confined to non muslim? .. we kind of lost our first Holy City in 1967. We lost our Holy landmarks in Macca and Medina under the name of Biddah and Shrik. We have five thousand old Mummies preserved in Cario and another few cities preserved in Pakistan.. but any thing to do with Prophetpbuh and the Sahaba Karam... is been grounded to dust.

Now we have huge building enveloping our Kabba in the name of Modernization .... when will our eyes open?

Oh I forgot.. then is that Big Clock over looking every thing in and around Kabba.

Now my Dear reader are invited to do the necessary name calling .. like calling me Hindu, Shia, Jew, Christian, man with no eyes, ugly face, etc...

But what I try to do through my post is to make you guys think... think... there is no shrik or biddah or Guna in have clear thoughts.

JEDDAH: The giant clock of Makkah is all set to tick home a new time standard, as some scholars believe that it will be an ideal alternative to the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Many scholars are of the opinion that Makkah Time can provide the world an alternative to the GMT. These people have scientific arguments to back their contention, as Makkah is situated in the center of the world.

At a conference in Doha in 2008, Muslim clerics and scholars presented scientific arguments that Makkah time is the true global meridian. They said that Makkah is the center of the world.

Putting Makkah time in the face of Greenwich Mean Time, this is the goal, said Mohammed Al-Arkubi, general manager of Royal Makkah Tower Hotel.

The Royal Clock is sitting atop the central tower in the Abraj Al-Bait Project, 50 meters opposite the Grand Mosque in Makkah. The clock will be visible from 17 km away at night and 11 to 12 km away during the day. A German-owned company, Premiere Composite Technologies, has designed the clock.

Sources said that the worlds largest clock six times larger than Londons Big Ben will be launched in the first week of Ramadan but no date has yet been fixed. The trial run would be conducted on the clock facing Jeddah that is to be inaugurated first.

The tower featuring the worlds largest clock also includes a Lunar Observation Center and an Islamic Museum. While the Royal Clock will announce daily prayers, the Lunar Observation Center and Islamic Museum will serve to protect the heritage for future generations. The observatory will also be used to sight the moon during the holy months. On special occasions, 16 bands of vertical lights will shoot some 10 km up into the sky.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah had ordered the largest clock tower in the world to be built in Makkah. The clock is placed on the fifth tower of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project at a height of 380 meters and could be seen from all sides. The name of Allah has been inscribed on each of the four clock faces. Two of the clock faces including the inscription will be 80 meters in height and 65 meters in width, and the dial diameter will be 39 meters.

The other two clocks will be 65 meters in height and 43 meters in width while their dial diameter will be 25 meters. Two lifts will take visitors to a balcony with a width of five meters below the clocks. The landmark edifice will also carry intricate Islamic decorative artwork.

The Makkah Clock Tower when completed will be the tallest in the world taller than the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, the Big Ben in London, Rajabai Clock Tower in Mumbai, and the Allen-Bradley Clock Tower in Milwaukee.

The King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project, which overlooks the Holy Mosque and has been chosen as the site of the worlds highest clock, is one of the worlds largest construction projects.

The project was rated the largest architectural building in view of the total area, which exceeds 1.4 million square meters. Designed using Islamic architecture, it contains seven adjacent towers, with 6,000 housing units, and has over SR6 billion ($1.6 billion) in investments.

With the construction of the clock, Saudi Arabia, specifically the Western Region, will be the site of two world landmarks, including the Jeddah Fountain, which is 261 meters high.

The area of flowing water is 4,000 square meters. Three giant pumps are used to pump water at a speed of 320 km per hour and are 261 meters in height.

The 577-meter Makkah Clock Royal Tower will be 59 meters taller than the 508-meter tall Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan, but 251 meters shorter than Dubais 828-meter tall Burj Khalifa.

The Makkah Clock Royal Tower will have a luxurious 76-story hotel which is the focal point of the Abraj Al-Bait complex, part of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project.

The opening of the hotel will replace Rotanas newly opened 333-meter tall Rose Rayhaan in Dubai for the worlds title. The $180 million Rose Rayhaan by Rotana on Sheikh Zayed Road was officially opened on Jan. 6 and has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the worlds tallest hotel.

The Makkah Clock Tower will be a key destination for visitors from the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.

The $3-billion, seven-tower complex of hotels, called Abraj Al-Bayt Towers, will contain 3,000 rooms and suites, the majority of which will overlook the Grand Mosque, which Muslims face for daily prayers.

Analysts say the projects after completion would change the face of the holy city and create better housing, transport and living facilities for the pilgrims.

Brother if u r an Aaalim and based on ur Ilm u have concluded all this then it s fine but if u r not a scholar then u should not ask for debate on this as all this has been mentioned in many Ahaadith that it will happen and are signs of Qayamat. U know majority of the people on this forum are not scholars and they comment according to their knowledge and some of them become very abusive which could be destructive for their Eemaan. May Allah (SWT) save our Eeman and save us from all kind of shirk and fitna Aameen. :jazak:. By the way Pakistan is also an ally of US who has destroyed and still killing Muslims in Afghanistan. Think about it... Please read this translation of an Ayat. http://jang.com.pk/jang/apr2011-daily/15-04-2011/farman.htm

I am not worried about the Clock and the mass Construction projects.. I am pointing out to the Area in which Construction is going on... that is History that is been wiped out. One can build Hotels and Clock and Fancy restaurants.. a few miles out side Mecca. Why has it to be so close to actual Kabba? At one time not too far ago.. may be First World War period, they stood houses and reference point for all what we stand for.

What will we give to our future generation.. One big fat 3 Billion $ Clock Tower? May be next thing we know.. we stop printing any Islamic History books.. and the mufti call haram or Shrik or Biddah reading Islamic History.

The only evidence left for the future generation would be Holy Quran.. ... Full Stop.

Its OK to read about in detail or get a PhD for Mayan dynasty, or mighty Vijaynagar Empire.. or spend money to take care of Pharaoh.. but removing land marks building huge fancy building on Fragile Sahaba houses is OK and very Islamic.
