Lal Masjid Library renamed as Osama Bin
Ladin Shaheed library.
Will someone take notice or we will let things
go out of our hand until another Lal Masjid
operation is needed?
Lal Masjid Library renamed as Osama Bin Ladin Shaheed library
Posted by: Wahab Butt April 17, 2014 in Point of View1 Comment According to the findings of Lal Masjid commission, 103 people died during the Lal Masjid operation. 11 of them were our brave security officials while the rest were either terrorists or civilians who were held hostage by these terrorists. According to Lal Masjid commission report, there were no women or children among those 103 people killed. While one can argue over whether civilian casualties could have been prevented, it is hard to disagree with the fact that operation had become absolutely necessary in light of the events that took place prior to the operation-including kidnapping of chinese nationals, beating of police officers etc. It was logically, morally, legally not possible for government to allow a state within the state in the heart of Islamabad. But after the operation was conducted, the Pakistani media and judiciary let personal enmity of then President Pervez Musharraf affect the fulfilment of their professional responsibilities. Facts were distorted by a section of the media-the whole operation was termed as an attempt by Musharraf to please his foreign allies and the presence of terrorists in the mosque was conveniently ignored. And the judiciary after freeing the terrorists is now trying Musharraf for murder of the head of these terrorists who was killed during Lal Masjid operation. Thanks to such non professional attitude of a section of media and judiciary, it now appears that Lal Masjid Brigade is again confident enough to test the waters. Few days back, it was reported on social media and small factions of mainstream media that Burqa-Clad females of Jamia Hafsa armed with knives and clubs removed and tore the posters and banners of General Pervez Musharraf (Retired) in G-6 Sector of Islamabad. The event was not given due attention by any well known journalist and neither any TV programs were done on it nor any columns written. Seems as if no one wants to risk his life by disrupting the media-judiciary-mulla nexus in Islamabad. Now, the current Lal Masjid administration (which is same as the one against whom operation was conducted previously) has renamed the Lal Masjid Library as Osama Bin Laden Shaheed Library. This not only shows the rest of world that Pakistanis are terrorist supporters and apologists but is also disrespectful to 60,000 Pakistani civilians and security forces killed by terrorists. I would go as far as saying that this is a slap on the face of all Pakistanis who dream of a modern, progressive and peaceful Pakistan. Will someone take notice or we will let things go out of our hand until another Lal Masjid operation is needed?
