The recent remarks made by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in which he irresponsibly labeled Pakistan as a "rogue state" and called for international oversight of its nuclear program, are both baseless and provocative. Such statements reflect a troubling pattern of aggressive rhetoric that undermines regional peace and stability.
India’s behaviour, particularly following the Pahalgam incident, is a glaring example of aggression based on unverified accusations. Without any conclusive investigation, India hastily blamed Pakistan, ignoring the deeply rooted unrest in Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, a region under military lockdown and denied the basic right of self-determination for decades. The Kashmir conflict, marked by India's systematic suppression of the local population, is not the result of foreign intervention but of the Indian state’s failure to win over the hearts and minds of the Kashmiri people.
India’s decision to escalate tensions and push the region towards conflict without evidence is the hallmark of a rogue actor, not a responsible state. If the term “rogue state” is to be used, it applies more appropriately to a government that unilaterally abrogates international agreements, violently suppresses minorities, and continuously fans war hysteria for domestic political gain.
Why Pakistani defence minister mum on this? Why does he not stand up and say that India is a rogue state, and it is its atomic program which should be under IAEA supervision?
