Tariq Malik - World's 100 Most Influential People in Digital Government
Tariq Malki is the only person from Pakistan on the list. He was working as Chief Technical Advisor at United Nations Development Programs prior to joining NADRA. CNN called him 'Man on mission' when he identified 3.5 million tax evaders in Pakistan using 'Data Analysis' coupled with biometrics.
This is the second time he is kicked out by PML (N) for political reasons. It is going to be a big loss for Pakistan and a warning for all those who want to return from overseas to serve their country.
Tariq Malik is chief technical advisor at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and a core member of the World Bank’s Technical Experts Group. He has led multiple biometrics identity-programs and Information Technology projects, including most recently a National Registration and Identification System in Malawi, Africa. The innovational digital ecosystem created by this project has helped to significantly reform governance in Malawi, in turn strengthening democracy, financial inclusion, sustainable development, and overall service delivery. Tariq is one of the brains behind the global ‘ID for Development’ (#ID4D) program, and authored the framework of international standards for digital identity.
