ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) said Wednesday that not a single key person involved in the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) corruption case has been arrested as yet.
The court demanded the list of those accused in the scandal who have fled the country and asked for a report on the measures required to bring them back.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to declare the accused as proclaimed offenders if there is incriminating evidence against them.
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the way the FIA has handled the case and said the FIA was threatening only minor officials and the ordinary people.
The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
Management officials at the state-owned enterprise are alleged to have sold steel at prices below PSMs operational costs to as many as 469 steel dealers, which caused PMS a net loss of Rs5.7 billion in the first six months of the financial year ending June 30, 2011.
