It is with reference to the editorial note of DAWN "Not the Right Decision which came out on 23rd October, 2009. It rightly concluded that it is a psychological victory for militants. This educational black-out has created panic in young minds and uncertainty in the nation. For how long such measures can work. Our knee-jerk reaction reflects the success of militants. It raised many pertinent and valid questions regarding governments decision to close down the educational institutions throughout the Pakistan. The authorities took this decision in the wake of suicide bombing in International Islamic University which claimed six innocent and precious lives and may have been rendered many disabled for whole life. This is a national tragedy. It must be condemned by all and nothing justifies the use of educational institutions in conflicts for terror purposes. And it applies to every country and outfits.
Terrorist wanted to create chaos, uncertainty and instability in Pakistan. There purpose seems to be turning Pakistan into failed state, which Pakistan cannot afford to be. Terrorism has emerged as serious threat to the prosperity, integrity and survival of Pakistan. However, it is folly and lack of vision of our leadership which let this menace become so powerful. International community is acting as silent spectator, while some lobbies have become active against Pakistan. Pakistan is being labeled as source of terrorism in this region and almost all the neighbors are putting blame for everything wrong which is taking place there. Instead of taking Pakistan as a victim of Terrorism, and supporting it, why the international community take it as a source of Terrorism and spread propaganda against Pakistan across the world? It shows the double standards adopted by the global powers.
Our government must take the people on board against the terrorist as there is collapse of trust on governments intention and capability to fight the terrorist. It is a fact that too close identification with America cannot be a source of strength and legitimacy for any government. They must keep in mind that the destiny of this country should be determined by its people, not by American administration. So, our rulers should stand by the wishes of people of Pakistan.
Our policy makers must take some prompt steps to remove this confusion and panic. There is need to raise the morale of the masses. Our prime minister should address the nation and given them strong message against terrorist and announce his terrorism counter strategy. Specially, the morale of parents, teachers, and students should be boosted. We should beef up security measures to protect innocent souls and our intelligences agencies must prove their worth. Our intelligence network is one of best in the world. It must be used efficiently. Terrorist or suicide bomber does not grow out of earth abruptly. It takes time to be operational. Our intelligence services must evolve such strategies which could check the recruitment, training and deployment of a terrorist.

On the other hand, we should conduct workshops and trainings for teachers, so that they could go back to the students and help them to go out of trauma which they are facing. Teachers can also help students to prepare themselves for coming challenges of terrorism, as it is clear that militants will not disappear by the day our educational institution will re-open. We must try to manage the fearless and panic free learning years to students as it is future lifeline of Pakistan
