I do not think self determination is a right accepted by India and Pakistan post Partition . Hundreds of princely states were forcibly absorbed by Pakistan and India into their territory

70 years of anti India attitude of Kashmiri Muslims led them to lost their semi independent status in India . I personally think, it is a big setback for the people hoping for Kashmir merger with Pakistan or an Independent Kashmir

After this setback, Kashmiris will certainly return to militancy again and protests but the momentum won't be as it was in 80's or 90's . Now there will be more and more J&K local Hindus in state police and security apparatus . Always remember the insiders are more lethal than the troops from Punjab , Haryana , UP , Bihar , Rajastan or any other part of India

The Kashmiri Hindu Pandits will too become part of security apparatus of the state . Now the war will be between J&K Hindus and Muslims for domination
