Here is the infamous weapons scandal again. And it clearly states corrupt people who are still serving at high posts. I was told that naya Pakistan mai at least police force dayanat daar aur imaandar hoge but it is not. Humara tu FC ka head he chor hai (yapping)

With the police already under National Accountability Bureaus radar for misappropriation in a weapons deal circa 2008-2009, the department has gone ahead and approved the purchase of substandard helmets for the force.

The Express Tribune has learnt around 1,500 to 2,000 pieces of safety helmets for policemen will be bought from a Karachi-based company at a cost of Rs15,000 to Rs20,000.

[No]Quality control?

Requesting anonymity, an official of the police department told The Express Tribune on Saturday that a four-member committee inspected the quality of the samples and gave its approval even though the bullet of a 30-bore pistol cleanly pierced the helmet, exiting from the other side.

The sample helmet was tested twice, said the official. First it was shot at from a 9mm pistol, the bullet of which could not penetrate the helmet, but a bullet fired from a 30 bore pistol went straight through, proving that the helmet was not up to the mark.

According to him, both shots were fired from a distance of roughly 15 metres. Officials were present during the test; even so, they later gave a green signal to purchase the helmets after they saw the headgear fail one test, said the police official.

At the frontline in the war against militancy, K-Ps police force should have the best equipment. This is nothing short of playing with the lives of our policemen, he added.

From the insiders

A member of the inspection committee told The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity that several helmets were tested but not all were approved. He claimed the sample they approved was not pierced by a 9mm and 30 bore bullet, however, it cannot provide protection against a shot fired from an SMG.

The more protective layers the helmet has, the more its weight, added the inspection committee member. I do not think policemen will be able to wear a heavy helmet for long periods, he said.

However, another member of the inspection team had reservations about the gear. SSP Operations Najeebur Rehman said helmets made by various companies were tested and rejected for being ineffective or not bullet-proof. He added he forwarded his observations about the samples which were approved for purchase to the police department.

They were armoured helmets weighing around 1.45kg. But after a 30 bore bullet pierced the sample, I forwarded my reservations, said Rehman. He confirmed the approved sample also failed against SMG bullets.

Already under investigation

Several senior former and serving police officials have already been named by NAB K-P in a weapons purchase scam. According to a corruption reference filed by the bureau in an accountability court, weapons and other equipment worth Rs7 billion were purchased for the police department during the tenure of former IGP Malik Naveed in 2008-2009.

The NAB maintains has accused former IGP Naveed, former additional IGP and now Frontier Constabulary Commandant Abdul Majeed Khan, former additional IGP operations Abdul Latif Khan and Central Police Office DIG Sajid Ali Khan in the Rs7 billion weapons scam.
Moreover, former headquarters DIG Muhammad Suleman Khan, the then AIG establishment Khashil Alam, former telecommunications DIG Sadiq Kamal Orakzai are also accused of being involved along with former chief minister Amir Haider Hotis brother Amir Ghazan, his relative Raza Ali Khan and budget officer Javed Khan.

Good to raise this issue .. but police have not yet made the deal. Lets see how it proceeds from here inwards. If they fail to act, only then i will accept your reservations fully.

I am not a noora and voted for pti, but seeing these double faced policies are making me sick and rethink. Tall claims like no to nepotism(entire Khattak's family is in govt) and so are the good for nothing Asad Qaisers. IK said that he would privatise these rest houses and generate income, but nothing has been done about it so far. They are in fact being used and abused by families of law makers. Maan leya Governor house is under federal domain but karnak house, retreat house etc all come under kpk govt. Is ki ilawa that independent Ehtesaab commission does look fancy only on paper, but when do we see it nabbing corrupt elements from the previous govt? FC ka head usually happens to be second in line to the IG and unfortunately the head of our border patrolling is involved in shameless corruption of providing substandard weapons to people who fight in the line of fire so that we can sleep peacefully at night!

If it is true then i hope someone submits a complain over it so it can be stopped, remember it takes time to take out the corrupt and its been only 14 months since the KPK govt. came..iam sure in the future even things like these wont happen :) KPK govt. is million times better than any other provincial govt. corruption and workwise..so i suggest that give it more time before coming to conclusions

If NAB KPK has taken these people to the court including the head of FC, what else do you recommend should be done? Isn't it up to the court now to deal with it or you want the government to be the judge, jury & prosecutor all at the same time? The basis of Naya Pakistan as I understand it is for every institution to work in accordance with the law without fear or favour. Correct me if I got it all wrong bro.

And Nawaz Shareef is a kutti ma ka bacha because he pretends he is holier than thou. Zardari on the other hand is the happy go lucky type son of a gun who at least doesn't lecture us on morality and financial integrity because he knows he is corrupt. IK ko tab he dhars dena chaye jab woh apne giraban mai dekhe aur apni kpk ki haqomat teekh kharay. Trolls does this make me an MQM or JUI F supporter after this post? Learn to have the patience to bear criticism which might actually do us good.

What KPK government can do is at least ask the FC constabulary to step down relinquish his post and clear his name before serving on such a sensitive post. Is that too much to ask? This case has been dragging on since 2008-9.

Please correct the title of this post. It should be:
( THE KP NAP HAS UNEARTH BILLIONS OF RUPEES OF CORRUPTIONS TOOK PLACE IN 2008-2009 ).

I don’t know, some people are enemy of this country and this nation. The present government of PTI is doing best job to serve this country and its people and people of KP are applauding their great services, but some stupid people are trying unsuccessfully to defame IK and PTI. In other word, they are supporting the corrupt and criminal politicians. These people are so senseless, they don’t know, their own suffering are because of these corrupt political mafia. Allah SWT may guide them to the right direction. Ameen.

I am as Pakistani and a nationalist as probably you are. Get out of the blame games and rectify whatever wrong is happening around you. Be it any party PTI or x,y and z we shouldn't follow them blindly because its not a religion. Many pti leaders are turn coat politicians having served in other parties before. For instance hum nay Javed Hashmi ko saar pe charya howa tha but in fact in the 70's he used to act as a hitman for the Jamat. Paison pe logon ka qatl kerta tha. Either way religion should only be followed blindly not a person or party.

Oh bro you are correct, it seems that the Poster of this thread forgot to put the full headline in the article which was:

PESHAWAR: With the police already under National Accountability Bureau’s radar for misappropriation in a weapons deal circa 2008-2009, the department has gone ahead and approved the purchase of substandard helmets for the force.

So yea, thread maker should edit his post and add the full thing otherwise it will lead to confusion also spreading dis-information about KPK Govt.(hopefully that wasn't your original purpose)

Agreed PTI KPK GOvt with the likes of Khattak n Asad qaiser r not upto mark but wt can IK do as he has a weak coalition if he starts ruffling feathers within the party they may don't get a chance to change anything. To be truly revolutionary he needs a strong Govt so he can hire n fire at will also he has opened too many fronts to fight with lets wait n take things one at atime atleast they r trying to undo the wrong done in past

This by far was the most logical response to my post(s). We should have such dispassionate discourse rather than indulging at pointing fingers like illiterate morons. Respect!

And logon ki priority dekho they are making useless new posts so that this can sink to the bottom and be swept underneath the carpet. We should be able to put pressure on PTI CEC through this forum to amend the faults. If they can use this siasat.pk to muster support they should also respect the grave concerns of its members regarding misdoings highlighted here. Just a humble suggestion.
