Arundhati Roy is one of the most Intellectually honest thinkers of our times in this subcontinent. She has constantly advocated social justice and human rights for the minorities in India and abroad. She is fearless and has criticized injustice wherever she sees it.

Dude - why spoil the respect for her :-) First of all its good for people like me with short attention span that this minute and a half video was posted. Let the people praise her for this brief statement as it doesn't contradict any of our sensibilities. Asking people to read more of her writings or listening to her talks may expose people to the gist of her message of human rights for "all" and social justice. I am sure that she would be the darling of the uber patriots on our side as long as her guns are pointed to issues in India. They wouldn't care much about what is the philosophy that drives her to wage fight for the social causes that she believes in.

She is an Indian and a Hindu......but as you correctly pointed out she is well respected in India as an intellectual and we are proud to have her.....

Sorry - the darn pessimist in me! Always see the tunnel with no light at the end of the tunnel and always find it very dark and chilly. Nothing that gives me warm and fuzzies ;-) All the glasses seem half empty -similar to the box of intellectual curiosity which is mostly empty for us.
