Imran to approach ECP, SC against poll rigging

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said Sunday that his party would go to the Supreme Court and Election Commission of Pakistan against the rigging carried out in by-election.

Addressing a news conference in the federal capital, Khan said that the voters? turn over was very low in the by-election, while the numbers of votes cast was much higher than that of general elections.

He also called for installation of biometric system and handing over of polling process to National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA), which, he said, was in place in India also.

In addition, the PTI chief was surprised over Nawaz Sharif?s decision to link the 17th Amendment with the appointment of judges.

Khan further said that holders of fake degrees and matric pass politicians should have no say in judges? appointment.

Imran demands independent election commission

Multan: Tehrik-i-Insaf Chief Imran Khan has said that his party would move the Supreme Court for the establishment of an independent and powerful election commission and introduction of digital vote casting system for holding transparent, free and fair vote. Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Imran Khan claimed that rulers have transferred finger print data of Pakistanis to United Atates. He said that petty thieves were being tortured publicly by the police while full protocol was being given to 8000 big plunderers of national wealth. He said that system cannot be changed in Pakistan when a few elite families stay in power. Bitterly criticizing the Sharif brothers, Imran Khan said that they did not challenge the nomination of Asif Ali Zardari for the top slot of the country.
He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif has always helped Zardari whenever he was in trouble. He said that PML-N introduced the concept of a friendly opposition in Pakistan and supported the anti-people and anti-state acts. He alleged that only 8000 people are responsible for corruption of Rs1060billion but they were not arrested nor returned the money. Imran Khan warned that country could not afford any political crisis at this critical time and both the major political parties should work for strengthening of democracy. If the PPP and the PML-N do not take wise decisions and resolve the important issues with mutual consultation, the country will face a complicated situation. He said the alliance between these two parties was unnatural to begin with.Agency
