Veterans of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) dharnas know that the main reason for attending these protests-cum-parties is the musical stylings of DJ Butt. This being Ramazan, however, Imran Khans latest show of strength at D-Chowk outside Parliament House in Islamabad was devoid of music. Instead, attendees had to make to do with comedy. Mimics took on the usual suspects Zardari, Gilani, Nawaz.
If this latest PTI sit-in was being covered in the entertainment section of newspapers, the report would end with an upbeat and a good time was had by all. And with a dharna scheduled every Saturday of Ramazan, the good times will continue to roll. But since the fun and frolicking was ostensibly political, a deeper analysis becomes sadly necessary.
More than even the staunchest PPP jiyala, PTI diehards have learned the art of parroting their chosen one. One attendee at the sit-in patiently explained to me how the judiciary is being unduly timid in its cases against the government. The solution, explained this man who had perfected Imran Khans talking points, is that the army must use its full force in favour of a supposedly beleaguered Supreme Court. Since the armys full force includes its nuclear arsenal let us assume that was rhetorical overkill.
Here, then, is the dilemma facing the PTI. To become a viable political party that does something other than be the cool kid at college who throws awesome parties, the PTI needs the army. Given that the PTI spent much of the last decade railing against Musharraf, this requires either schizophrenia or amnesia.
Imran Khan has, according to most observers, spent the last few months cosying up to the GHQ and coordinating his message on drones, the PML-N, PPP and America, all of whom both the army and PTI are opposed to.
Even in a best-case scenario, one which involves lots of ballot-stuffing, the PTI can only play the role of a spoiler in the next general elections. By forming a right-wing bloc with the religious parties, the PTI can capture 10 to 15 National Assembly seats in Punjab, and prevent the PML-N from winning too many seats by taking a slice of their vote and thus allowing the PPP to retain power.
This works out well for the army which, although mistrustful of the PPP, would prefer to deal with the devil it knows rather than an unpredictable Nawaz Sharif. The PML-N leader has made a habit of fighting with every army chief during his previous two terms Kakar, Karamat, Musharraf. And his recent rhetoric against the army has only reinforced the army belief that he must not be allowed back into power. Thus, it is Imran Khans lot in life to be a pawn.
Pawn though he may be, Imran Khan is going to act like he has free will. The theme of his dharna was Hakumat hatao, mulk bachao. In trying to remove the government, though, he is giving the PPP its best shot at securing a second term. Party on!

I totally disagree with this article, as the author minus people of pakistan and their will, by saying army wont allow NS back into power means this so called democracy is still "made in pindi" so in this case the PAWN is people of pakistan not IK, leaving alone what will be the polls scenario and what will be the implications and out come of it there are millions of people who look at IK as their leader and they agree with his vision of pakistan, in worse case PTI may get 10-15 seats but if ANP and JUI F can have their say in current politics after having less then this many seats then i have all the hope that PTI will play its part and wont allow next govt to play this rough as they played this time with the help of friendly opposition of NS.
Ik is our hope for the well being of this nation and will remain and all these demoralising analysis will not move us or PTI from its stance of a batter, secure and uprising pakistan if not for us then at least for your childern.

Pathetic attempt at an "analysis". But I am used to this drivel from Express Tribune for some time now. I wonder at the intellectual level of this "analyst". Looks to me like a conspiracy theory dreamed up by a teenager.

People of pakistan have serious questions about the personality of imran khan due to the following reasons:-

1-His is confused in his own personality. He had all his colourfull life youth life in england especially most of his nights here spents dancing in clubs. Then he give examples of western democracy which is a crap and even people in west complaints that how it destroyed their family lives and peace.

2-B/c His own character is doubtfull ,thats why he never talked about ruling pakistan according to the Quran and Sunnah. The only solution to the problems of pakistan to rule according to Quran and Sunnah. But He knows according to Quran and Sunnah the person who would rule must have a neat and clean character.

3-He talks using cheap language against other pakistani politicians where he himself is not able to declare his own daughter in public and accept it.

4-B/c He is mentally not solid ,we can expect anything abnormal from him.sometimes big u turns .one day talk about one thing and next day completly different and always giving examples of west.

5-Pakistan is destroyed b/c western powers wants to enforce western agenda in pakistani and imran khan wants the same thats why west is supporting him now to give more coverage in media etc.
