Re: Gen( Rtd ) Aslam Beg Looses temper !

just a friendly and brotherly comment - with the thing you have as your slogan and then using a crude curse word dont go well together.

yeah - if the politicians are corrupt then the military generals are corrupt too - no one is above law and this notion of self righteousness and knowing what is best for nation on the part of the military generals is not acceptable! Whether its Musharraf - Zia or Mr. Baig!

When people consider themselv above the law then this happens - I dont see anything wrong in what that journalist was doing - its the norm all over the world. The reaction of the "considering-himself-unanswerable-to-anyone" general and his goon was newsworthy not the poor reporter doing his job

as far the loyalty is concerned ...

Let me disclose and expose the politicians and the generals (you decide who is pro-Pakistan and Pro-Islamic)

in Gulf War, Americans wanted Pakistan to send their troops so that world donot think its Muslims Massacre (as there would be a Muslim Country involved in attacks)

Mirza Aslam Baig, the then General of the Armed forces, refused straight away to send any troops, while Nawaz Sharif, the then Prime Minister, forced the decision to send troops. that also reminds me that this prick sharif was then on a peace mission, visiting all Islamic & other countries involved in this, flying around countries and gave this statement "If Saddam would have attacked Israel rather than Kuwait, i would have joined him"

and then recently in the past, Nawaz Sharif goes to American Ambassador, licking americans feet by claiming ... "OH please i am pro-american ... remember when army refused to send troops to Gulf War ... i was the one who forced army to send troops, i am pro american ... i can serve you better, please believe me" (wikileaks)

what a f**king prick .........

Re: Gen( Rtd ) Aslam Beg Looses temper !

In the clip where does it show that the reporter agreed to just questioning on baluchistan issue? I still say that the reporter was very professional (may be a little persistent) but he didn't do anything which is not according to his professional ethics. As I said earlier - if the same question gotten a chance pestered a NATO commanders for their wrongdoing - then possibly you will be praising him for doing his job and if the NATO commander reacted the same way as the general and his goon did then you would have criticized him.

I am all for accountability for all - but we have to be tolerant and sane in our responses - no wonder violence is considered a normal response when we dont like something or feel that we are being questioned about our wrongdoing. This behavior of the general and his goon needs to be strongly condemned where they are trying to intimidate the reporter and physically threatening him rather than condemning the reporter for doing his job.

i strongly disagree, the reported invited him for some questions on baloachistan issue ... (as it is said in the interview) and the reporter did not disagree ...

Plus if you read my post carefully, earlier one, i am in 100% favour of the accountability of these generals, i hate their role behind the political scene. they should be exposed and put to justice, same goes with the media and every one.

General Baig is right here. He decently told the reporter that he did not want to answer the question, then why should the guy insist. The general lost his temper for a good reason. I would have done the same.

I think The Reporter should not have insisted.Once The General refused to answer the question,The Reporter should have stopped. We may not agree with what he did when he was Army Chief but unfortunately The Reporter crossed the limit. All was in very bad taste though.......

[h=1]LETTER TO EDITOR - Gen Beg and TV Reporter[/h]

A controversy is raging over the internet on the rather persistent asking of a TV reporter from the former COAS General Aslam Beg Mirza if he would return the Democracy medal given to the army by the late BB, as he had subsequently conspired to bring down the BBs democratic government through Mehran Bank scandal. However, under the changed environs when the wind is blowing against the general, we tend to forget the chain of events under which General Beg had helped restore true democracy and consequent to his such efforts BB had issued the medal to all in the armed forces. I hope we remember that in the 1988 general elections no single party had a clear majority to form the government and a coalition was in the offing. PPP had won 93 seats and the MLN only 54 seats. There were plenty of independents, FATA members and other smaller parties all eager to join ANY government. Somehow GIK and a few others were not for the PPP and were seriously thinking of offering MNS to form the coalition. And, the rationale being given was of a similar situation in India where Rajiv with more seats had conceded to V P Singh to form the coalition government with lesser number of seats. Only Gen Beg wanted the majority party irrespective of who to form the government. He, therefore, held a one to one close door meeting with the BB for more than a hour in the late evening at the GHQ, during which he offered to support BB in forming the govt. and in return asked for three promises; One. Not to take any revenge from Gen. Zias family for hanging ZAB. Two. Not to interfere unduly with the army and Three. Co-operate and pull on with GIK for the smooth running of the democracy in the country. BB Agreed and Gen. Beg put his foot down that the party with the maximum seats had the first option of forming the coalition and so it was.

Gen. Beg was the man who ensured proper democracy by making BB the PM and it was rather unfair on the part of the reporter to pester the General for returning the Democracy Medal.

Re: If Politicians are Answerable to ANY Hard Question Then Why Not These GENERALS ???

We elect politicians thats why they are answerable to us, and we will ask them questions and will have to make them accountable beacuse we elect them, and it is these politicians who then need to make these generals accountable, the reason they cant do that because they dont have any moral authority, they are illetrate and are very incompetent.

So remember We ask Politicians.

Politicians ask generals.

when these politicians try to ask public ridicule them or don't support them and there are 100 such examples
