RAWALPINDI: Curfew will remain imposed in violence-hit Rawalpindi till 12am tonight while mobile services are still blocked in the city, SAMAA reports on Saturday.
All educational and business activities are also closed in the city.
According to DCO ten people were killed while 37 others injured in clash between two groups near an Ashura procession in the city last evening.
Meanwhile Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and called a report from Commissioner and RPO Rawalpindi.
The Shi'ites were marking Muharram, an annual Shi'ite day of mourning to mark the martrydom of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Mohammad.
Rawalpindi is a few minutes' drive from the capital, Islamabad, and home to the headquarters of Pakistan's army.
Further details of the attack were difficult to ascertain since the government suspended mobile phone services in much of Pakistan during Muharram to try to foil suicide bombers.
Attacks on Pakistan's Shi'ites, who make up about a fifth of the 180 million population, have worsened in recent years.

Hey Bro, just calm down.. Our Rasool did not ask us to become jahil in order to take revenge. Simply we need a reform.. like one of the brother exampled that just like tableegi jamat.. they should be provided extra space to do their peetna and maatam. You wont become dog in order to handle your dog, rather you treat him the best way.. so same goes for all the illfated person from all sects.. we are ashraf-al-makhlookat so stop behaving like haiwanat.. follow Allah and his Rasool's command.. thats it

1st , Very Simple Truth. Blood of Pathans and Sunnis is cheaper then Others.
2nd, Media is Headed by Shia Group. They won't show sunni massacre but create a havoc on killing of 1 shia only by calling it geoncide.
3rd, Shia & Sunni can't be one. ever. Just like a Hindu or Muslim or Christian can't be same.
by the way, we should leave this topic as it is. There is no benefit of continuing to dialogue over it. Damage is already done, and the shock-waves/aftereffects will multiply only.

If someone had actually fired from roof top of mosque, dozens of mourners would have dies who were down below in the open without any shelter.
As for the concocted story of imam masjid saying hateful things, it is a pack of lies as it would have been physically impossible for anyone in the ashoura procession to hear anything said in the mosque as loud speaker had been turned off at the time.
Even if for one moment we accept this concocted story of hate speech, how does it justify killing of namazis including children and imam masjid? By the same logic, aren't terrorists justified in killing shias allegedly for hate speech against sahaba?

You are the first person (and ONLY so far) I have read that is saying loudspeakers were OFF at time of incident.
Every other people, incl journalists, are stating provocative speeches were said by the masjid and rocks were thrown from roof that caused procession members to riot.
does that justify the killings and burnings? NOPE! My condolences to the ones that lost their loved ones and property in a fit of madness. But my problem still lies with DELIBERATE and DIRECT provocation that dangers lives. And the civil admin incompetence that allows it to happen.
so until there is some authentic source of information, I guess we can agree to disagree on our opposing claims.
