Was this the moment Pakistan's cricketers became embroiled in one final controversy?

In the last game of their acrimonious tour of England at the Rose Bowl last night fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar could be seen apparently running his left thumb along the ball's seam before dropping the ball on the ground and standing on it with his spiked right boot.

Sportsmail's pictures were taken in the 41st over of England's innings as Shoaib prepared to bowl to Paul Collingwood.

It is not the first time Shoaib, 35, has come under the spotlight at the Rose Bowl.

Four years ago, he was filmed by Sky cameras flicking at the ball with his thumb during a one-day international here against England.

On that occasion Shoaib was cleared but was warned about his behaviour after being accused of tampering with the ball during a Test match in Zimbabwe in late 2002.

The following year he was banned for two ODIs and fined 75 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of the same crime against New Zealand in Sri Lanka.

This is only an effort to ban Pakistan cricket team from cricket as well as to keep us away from World Cup. As a matter of fact, Pakistan team started progressing well and was training exceptionally hard for the world cup was started (different series announced). Since Pakistan has the greatest line of fast bowlers and batsman who can simply win impossible matches. I would call all drama a game again Pakistan cricket.

LONDON: There seems no respite for the Pakistan cricket team as after facing spot-fixing allegations, temperamental fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has landed the scandal-hit side in the middle of a ball-tampering controversy.

Akhtar was caught on camera tampering with the cricket ball during their fifth ODI match against England last night at the Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton, which Pakistan lost by a massive 121 runs.

"In the last game of their acrimonious tour of England at the Rose Bowl last night fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar could be seen apparently running his left thumb along the ball's seam before dropping the ball on the ground and standing on it with his spiked right boot," the Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

"Sportsmail's pictures were taken in the 41st over of England's innings as Shoaib prepared to bowl to Paul Collingwood," it said.

No stranger to controversy, Akhtar was filmed by Sky cameras flicking at the ball with his thumb during an ODI here against England four years ago.

The 35-year-old was let off at that time. His behaviour also came under the scanner when he was accused of tampering with the ball during a Test match in Zimbabwe in late 2002 and was subsequently warned.

For the same offence committed against New Zealand in Sri Lanka, Akhtar was banned for two ODIs and fined 75 per cent of his match fee.

The Pakistan team was hit by a series of controversies during the just-concluded tour. Three players -- Test captain Salman Butt and pacers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer -- were alleged spot-fixing during the Lord's Test last month.

The three players were also questioned by the Scotland Yard.

The matter didn't end there as fresh spot-fixing allegations hit the team during the ODI series also. The ICC launched an investigation into their third ODI against England after being tipped off about suspicious scoring patterns by a British tabloid.

Only Imran Khan & Jawed Miandad can fight the case of Pkistan. I would like to suggest again that Imran Khan shoudl be appointed as PCB's Cheif and Jawed Miandad be apointed as Coach of Pakistan Cricket Team. And if Imran Khan refuse to take this responsibility, the he should be sent to Jail.

And the cure to all these accusations is?

boycott the game. Do it for one or two years, then see them come crawling on there knees.

Problem is there is nobody khuddar, khuda parast, and khadim-e-watan who can do it. the president should sign an executive order to bring the team back. We should have pride, self esteem, and nationalism in our blood. But everybody is greedy, govt, minister, advertisers, and players alike, nobody thinks of national pride.

Look at US. in 1984, Ronald Reagan signed an executive order and Americans did not attend the Olympics in USSR. The TV network lost over $700 million in rights, did you see any outcry? NOT
