Most part of MSFT revenues do comes from Office and Windows whether its corporate licensing or consumer.

MSFT doesnt make much on the OS. Its primary bread n butter is from Software Suites and Corporate Licenses.

You should try Open source. Try Ubuntu or Debian.

What is site licenses?

For use by a business, govt, institutions etc, a company such as Microsoft, would grant them license to install and use a product, such as Windows NT etc.

there are 1000's of software are licensed to commercial users. The vendors take in millions of $ annually. This is how they survive

Here's the breakdown of their revenue for 2012~13.

58% of their rev is based on Suites & Corporate products. OS & live revenues account for less than 25%.

You will continue to see their OS revenue fall as Open source further takes hold of the corporate infrastructure. Most high end firms run their virtualization hardware running on 1 or the other version of linux.

Tech is not my cup of tea. But here's my 2 cent. MSFT is considered a blue chip stable established firm. MSFT, along with AAPL, has abused this position to float bonds on low interest rates, increasing their liability, Asset value & market cap.

When savers are forced to accept 0.25% on Tbills, they are forced to lend to anyone offering more than 0.25%. Microsoft's bond's goin for about 3% on 1yr maturity.

This is why I mentioned earlier that this whole game is being run by the NYFED by pumping billions into the market every day.. called POMO. Today was another fine day which 927 million pumped into the blackbox.
Increase in Mkt Cap of Google over past year is understandable. I am just surprised what has caused increase in MSFT mkt cap. with almost near failed launch of Surface, not major success with Window phone, not very impressive performance of Bing and normal sales of of office and windows

Microsoft Business include office. While server division also includes windows (windows Azure and Windows Server). So combining revenue from Windows (All variants) + office is more than 60 percents. While revenues from tools (Visual Studio etc) is also indirectly linked to Windows and office.

Cant disagree. When I was saying that MSFT doesnt make much from WinOS, I had end consumer in mind. But when you add Server to list (which I agree, its an OS product), then you are right.. Figures do look different.

Thanks for the correction.

Yes agreed revenue from consumer is very small part of the total rev. Microsoft all about Windows and Office. Even Xbox and Bing is also a part of MSFT strategy to protect their windows business.

What a shameless person , charging so much just for a operating system full of viruses.

more than 100 $ cost , only Americans could pay , and still it is too much for them also.

What about the poor and developing countries.

If he is earning too much that means his profit is too much and clearly he is charging too much.

Melinda gates foundation has personally contributed 500 million $ alone in Pakistan!!
