Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Regular Press Conference on September 5, 2014(a day before the one the thread starter is referring to)

Q: Media reports said that China has cancelled President Xi Jinping's visit to Pakistan out of security concerns. Can you confirm that?A: China and Pakistan are friendly neighbors enjoying all-weather friendship and comprehensive cooperation. We have maintained close high-level exchanges. Both sides are in close communication on the next step of such exchanges. It is worth pointing out that we have never released any information about President Xi's visit to Pakistan officially. So, there is no basis to say we are about to cancel anything.

You said Geo was lying, Foreign Office was lying, BBC was lying, PM was lying, politicians were lying about Chinese President's Pakistan visit. Chinese Embassy finally has spoken. As diplomatic as they could get! Wali Zahid
http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/fyrth/t1188865.htm

Conclusion: China itself said on its official foreign office website that no visit was scheduled, but on 6th september it said that the visit was mutually cancelled, which means that they must have asked Govt of Pak what they should do(in the current situation) and it was Pak who told them to schedule the meeting at some other time(while meantime they could blame it on their rivals).

Useless to explain. These diplomatic delicacies are way beyond the narrow minds of PTI trolls, who have a tunnel vision following IK, who himself is a nincompoop of lowest grade. PTI and MQM are becoming alike in many ways. They both believe in 'manzil nahi rehnuma chahiye'. Wait a little and soon PTI will also go into bhatta and extortion business. When that happens you will find these internet trolls explaining that this is needed to run a party and if mqm does it then why objection against PTI. Fact of the matter is that all established supported parties resort to extortion and bhatta to fund their activities. Like mqm blocks karachi without any concern to damage to the country, PTI will now make it a habbit to block islamabad and lahore every now and then. They are totally oblivious to the damage done to the country.

If its no big deal why is India celebrating the news? Chinese president first visit to subcontinent will be to India not Pakistan. The message it sends to the world at large is blunt, Pakistan went out of its way to invite US presidents whenever they visited subcontinent now perhaps the most crucial strategic and economic partner of Pakistan is coming to subcontinent visiting India and not Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: China’s foreign ministry on Saturday denied releasing any information regarding President Xi Jingping’s visit to Pakistan.

“China and Pakistan have maintained close high-level exchanges… [and] are in close communication regarding the next step of such exchanges,” China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang told reporters at a news conference in Beijing.
“It is worth pointing out [however] that we never released any information about President Xi’s visit to Pakistan officially,” he said. “So, there is no basis to say we are about to cancel anything.”
At the same time, the spokesperson expressed hope that all major political stakeholders in Pakistan would be able to ‘resolve their differences and restore national security’.
“As for the current situation in Pakistan, we hope relevant parties in Pakistan can work together while bearing in mind the fundamental interests of the state and the people, and jointly safeguard national security,” he said.
The Pakistani government, on the other hand, maintained that the postponement of President Xi’s visit was ‘mutually agreed upon’ by Islamabad and Beijing.
A statement released by Pakistan’s foreign ministry on Saturday said the decision was taken by both countries in view of the current political situation in Pakistan. It added that new dates for the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan were being discussed through diplomatic channels.
“China and Pakistan are time-tested, all-weather friends. We are trying our best to ensure that the visit takes place as early as possible,” the statement read.
Earlier, on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s top aide on foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, announced that the Chinese president had decided to put off his visit to Pakistan due to possible security threats in light of ongoing protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek in Islamabad.

I just displayed what is still up on their website and their are also news reports from China which portrays the same thing. As for the real reason behind cancellation, i don't think a protest that is going on in a small area can alter the course of meeting of two countries, but some other security assurances from Govt(of Pak) must have went wrong.

"In view of the current political situation in Pakistan, the Governments of China and Pakistan have mutually agreed to postponement of the state visit of President Xi Jinping to Pakistan, which was scheduled to take place later this month"

Kindly correct me if I am mistaken, I believe the words "later this month" correspond to timing from Sep.20th onward. The word "Later" does not represent first week of the month. And that means China is actually worried about deteriorating political situation and its possible impact on the visit taking place after 20th September. Government took the real message which warned them to defuse the situation at earliest as Chinese friends always warn politely. But same as their strategy in case of requesting and then denying Army role in dialogue with IK-TUQ, they applied the same trick to discredit IK-TUQ and to build up a case to frighten them with possible loss of 35 Billion Dollar to Pakistan but this flawed story failed. The visit will take place at correct time later this moth but PML-N has to make local environment cool for that. Political struggle is not and can not be a road block in that visit unless Ch. Nisar proves the protesters are really trained terrorists.

Once again no big deal. Pakistan needs to get her house in order. China is a friendly nation and will always be there to help. Only Pakistanis can make things better for Pakistan truly. Believe me, if Pakistan cleans house and fixes law and order, implements rule of law and provides favorable conditions for investment, the investment that will come will dwarf whatever the Chinese are offering today.
