Always positive and impressive column by Orya Maqbool jan.May he live long Ameen.
Orya is always negative. Always, anti-establishment to the point of being anarchistic. Pehley to bongi mari title mein hi. Arrey bhai jo Allah se nahi darta, usko Insaan ka kia dar.
Why appeal to fear. Why not appeal to something positive. And if Orya has been negative for so long that he doesn't know anything positive about this land and its people, then I'd suggest he go talk to the school and college kids on campuses, and concerts, and streets, the ladies in the drawing rooms, the uniformed men hanging out of choppers with life lines and driving olive drab truck convoys, and the religious people with their supplications and hard earned rizq-e-halal, and the Pakistani abroad in their masajid and social groups. All these people are working to bring help to fellow pakistanis. All of them have different reasons for doing that. But I doubt if fear is one. I have not mentioned the politicians above or political and religious parties. But many amongst them are also doing very good work. We have a free media. It reports when these people are on ground and also when they are nowhere to be found. The idea is to grade people according to performance in this and any other test.
Orya, should know that god made man ashraful makhlookat. Not one man, but all humanity as a whole. And humanity is always positive. Always progressing. That is because of the way god designed humans. Extreme situations tend to bring the best and worst out in people. As long as those helping are more than the thieves, we will survive.
Fear is not the best motivator. Take an example:
Offer namaz for the love of god, or for complying with order, or for the fear of gods punishment. You choose the best reason. What do you think is the reason the prophet offered his prayers and which motivation will our god like best. My preferred reasons are in order of mention in that example. Same for helping people. These are your people, your country. Edhi, is so respected because he will even beg on side of street if that money can help people.
Orya can sit in his drawing room and keep re-reading the french revolution but he should also read the later history and tumultous politics of that nation. The french revolution, like every other revolution failed. All a revolution does is replace one set of tyrants with another set of tyrants. True success comes from sticking with one system and keep trying to reform it from within. That goes for anything in life. Revolution is a reaction of frustration and that doesn't help in the life of individuals or the collective.
