That is why in the Quran the word Ulema/Alim is used for scientists, philosophers, and people who ponder upon Allah's Ayats.
Please reflect on how many sciences are mentioned in the Quran: Meteorology, Water Cycle, Botany, Geology, Topography, Anthropology, Human soma and psyche, Biology, Zoology, Nematology, Parasitology, Livestock, Nutrition, etc
The term "Ulema" does not apply to the mullahs who can only relate false, fabricated traditions and ahadith.

I agree with almost everything Dr Israr said, may he succeed in the afterlife. Save for the last bit where he says that around 400 years ago things started to change, when people started to move more towards science and less towards religion and thats where the downfall started.

If you look at the Islamic Golden Age, which ended around 600 to 700 ish years ago it was somewhat opposite, Muslims were much more advanced in science and actually pioneers of modern science and not so tied up with religious clergy and nor did the religious clergy have that much power or authority. But as the religious clergy started to gain more power and authority, the less we became pioneers in science and our downfall started. And today is where we stand, behind in almost everything.

While over in Europe they started to break free of their clergy, diminishing their power and authority and the west started to develop and move ahead. What they call the renaissance period and today where it stands the west is ahead of us in every field.

You can see Muslim majority countries where the clergy doesn't have the kind of hold we have, they are successful even today. Turkey and Malaysia.

All of this is not a coincidence.

اور تم ویسے تو کافر ہو گئی ہو لیکن بھگوڑوں ، گستاخوں ، کرپٹ لوگوں کی محبت تمہارے دل سے نہیں گئی اور جانی بھی نہیں چاہیے

This is what I was talking about and this is what you people cannot understand, people in the golden era weren't away from religion they were just away from the clergy. You think all the early pioneers of modern science were unholy or ungodly people?

But when clergy started to expand and take over and started to declare everything haram and ungodly, the people started to move away and get more dumb.

"Deen se beniazi ho nahi gai" this is the whole reasons mullahs took over, so they could earn a living doing these jobs which you describe, nikkah, funeral etc etc. How many "deeni aalims" today teach people or instruct and encourage people to do these things themselves? They don't because they don't want to kick them selves out of a job and have their "chanda" stopped!

I can bet you if today majority of the people started performing these rites themselves, tomorrow mullahs will be the first one to start crying and start issuing fatwas how this is haram and they are all murtads.
