Aah, Umer Cheema. So many assumptions in this article, a bit immature if you ask me. He says the constitution was amended because of one man, this Aamir Kayani who nobody even knows about, while the fact is that the constitution was revised by a constitution committee, which included ONLY the old guards (those who were in PTI before Oct 30th) and people of calibre such as Justice (R) Wajiuddin Sahab. To say that ALL these people agreed to such manipulation of their mandate because of a single person's whims is a bit far-fetched. Further, the revised constitution was approved by the PTI CEC after a very thorough debate and discussion, it wasn't so easy for anyone to influence the whole process for his personal gains.

As for the clause itself, it made sense to change it because a charge is a charge unless it is proven in a court of law. One cannot disqualify a person simply based on charges, as even IK is daily being charged with different offences by his opponents. It is particularly easy and a trend in Pakistan. The case of being in government is different, because if a charge comes against you, there is a danger that you will influence the justice system (because of being in government) to get some relief. Whenever there is a charge against someone (a credible one), he/she resigns himself so that the law takes its due course. Many return after clearing themselves from the court.

Umer Cheema was muddling things up in his Benami article and it seems it is no different here.​
