Mr Altaf Hussain & Co created Muhajir Quam Movement to economically, socially and particularly physically protect the Muhajir Quam of urban Sindh especially Karachi from Non-Muhajirs. MQM decided to do this by becoming a Force of Terror so that no Non-State Actors and even State would be able to stand in their way to achieve this aim. MQM used organised brutal force both physical and monetary against general population but mainly opponents so as to subjugate their rival especially from Non-Muhajir Quams. Anyone coming in their way whether an individual or an institution be it a State or Non-State ( Law enforcing agencies even on occasions Armed Forces, Judicairy even Superior, Media both print and on-air, Educational institution, all other Government Departments and Political Parties, NGO's etc ) was ruthlessly dealt with no regard to sacred life or property. Over the years MQM thought that with some set backs they have been generally successful.
Some rivals of MQM realised that to protect their ulterior personal motives and also economically, socially and physically protect their people they have to use the same MQM tactics. These rivals over years have been able to almost master these tactics and have started to effectively use them against MQM. Loss of sympathetic god-father Gen. Pervaiz Musharaf and other changes, natural and some man-made eg. demographic have left MQM vulnerable.
During the recent carnage in Karachi, rival MQM forces have proven to be as deadly and devastating as MQM itself. Perhaps MQM has finally realised that its strategy has failed to economically, socially and particularly physically protect the Muhajir Quam of Karachi from Non-Muhajirs but rather has resulted in their woe. This is resulting in the loss of face of MQMers and they bitterly dislike it, MQM leadership is also losing hope in regaining their unrivalled Don status. This sense of despair can be seen on this forum in the form of recent comments by die hard MQM operatives who have openly started to write against the very existence of Pakistan. Hence the call of Altaf Hussain to Bahrat for asylum and UNO, NATO etc to protect Muhajir.
